walking through these city streets
so many tales of defeat each time i move my feet
looking into the eyes of strangers passing by
wondering how...wondering why.
walking through these city streets
i greet death and life
beginnings and endings
wrong and right plights.
walking through these city streets
thriving in chaos
bright lights and fast cars
name brands
and second hands
choose your class,
better be first or else youll be viewed as last.
god forbid we go against the status quo,
god forbid we allow an individual the space to learn and grow
god forbid we think for ourselves
god forbid we be true to our selves.

all i see is what society deems right for me
what i choose and who i do
is always looked down upon by you.
walking through these city streets
i pass judgement upon no one
so pass by me
passing on truth
passing on life
passing on knowledge
passing on whats right.
walking through these city streets
see beyond the surface
realize that we
all bleed the same color
all feel the same things
all want someone to lift the cover
and read up on the pages we bring,
and in turn thanks we sing
