Drive partitions

So I have my hard drive separated into 3 partitions. I want to install my printer on a drive other than C, but when I go into setup it automatically tries to put it there. Any ideas on how I can get it into D or E? I'm running XP.

when it asks you to set it up with the install new printer wizard or whatever it's called, there should be an option allowing you to customize the installation or something along those lines, jsut choose that and it will let you specify the path.

What the fuck are you talking about, dude?

A printer doesn't attach to a drive. If it's looking for drivers for it, then just change the drive letter to point to wherever the driver is located.

It doesn't give me that option. I figured out how to change it, the problem is that when the install program first starts it scans drive space for c automatically which doesn't have enough space for the full install. When I change the drive it won't let me change from minimum install.

Doesn't XP have one of those Unix-y options so you can mount up partitions on subdirectories instead of drive letters?

/me sighs. Another problem I know about 8 solutions to, but they're all in Linux.

Neoh's right, though... printers don't attach to a specfic drive. The drivers or software might, though. It sounds like you're having problems with the software? And it sounds like you're already pressed for space if you can't even fit the printer software on your drive.

Think about not installing it. Instead just go to Printers under Settings, Add Printer and point to the driver on the CD (should be an .inf). You probably don't even need the software.

I've got tons of space otherwise I just didn't allocate enough on the c drive I guess. I'll give that partition magic thing a shot.

Thanks all.

But the driver files are defaultiong to installing on his C: drive, he can't change it and he doesn't have enough space on it, which is the problem...

printer software is annoying.

everytime i load up my desktop, it loads this stupid little printer icon in the system tray which does nothing but lead to the printer options [paper type, numbers of pages, etc.] it's effing useless and i can't get it to not load everytime i startup. i feel so stupid. i can normally figure these things out on my own, but this one WON'T GO AWAY. someone help? stupid hp printer software!
