INJURED COLORADO AVALANCHE FORWARD STEVE MOORE RELEASED FROM HOSPITAL
DENVER -- Colorado forward Steve Moore has been released from hospital, two weeks after being attacked by Canucks star Todd Bertuzzi in a game in Vancouver.
Moore is expected to wear a neck brace for six to 12 weeks and his physical therapy will begin after he recovers from his neck injury and concussion. Avalanche doctor Andrew Parker said it remains uncertain whether Moore will able to return to hockey.
Moore, 25, was released from a Denver-area hospital late Monday.
Moore ended up with three fractured vertebrae -- two to cervical vertebrae and a fracture of the transverse process in a thoracic vertebra -- facial cuts, significant post-concussion symptoms and significant amnesia after he was attacked from behind by Bertuzzi March 8 at GM Place.
Nerves in the neck area were also stretched by the blow.
Bertuzzi was suspended for the rest of the season and playoffs, and will have to apply for reinstatement before next season.
