What happened to FNK!? [beta2 update] Breakdown + Q&A
Wow, this has/is going to be a tough trip. In the evergoing pursuit to better FNK.CA.. Yesterday I spend the majority of my day upgrading our beast of a message board up to the new release. As most of you can tell, this has come with some changes in the workings of FNK. Let me do my best to sort out any confusion (oh.. and there will be much of it) in this thread. Yes, the website looks as if large primal monkeys chewed it up and crapped it out. I appologise for this; however, please bare in mind it looked a whole lot different when I first got hold of it. Plus as one man I can only do so much in an evening. There will be a complete revamp of the website, this includes sexy/sleek graphics, something you wouldn't mind referring your family to. (haha, joke) This will be live by GTR (April 17th).. *cross your fingers* I will do my best over the next few days to tweak this current TEMPORARY look to suit all your eye candy needs. This again was the best I could put together before passing out in the computer chair. Wow, this is where some of the new confusion will set in. I don't have the paticence to list over the entire set of new workings at the moment. Allow me to settle some of the big issues I think will be "Features of Mass Confusion"..  Quick reply box: You must click the quick reply icon located next to the Quote button on a users post to use the quick reply box. I will go into greated detail why this is useful later. Reply to Private Messages: You must click the Quote button to reply to a PM, I donno why they set it up like this. I will change that to reply, plus add the quick pm box again. KARMA!!! Back in full force! Click this icon under a users post to give them a postive or negative comment based on that post. You may give 10 clicks a day, but only one to the same person every two days. If your karma doesnt' work or shows a black dot, you must turn it on in your user options.User Profile Picture: You may add your own profile picture now via UserCP. (link at the topleft of your screen) PM User, User Homepage, Add Buddy: These are still located within a users post!! Click their username to pull out a dropdown menu. Gallery: This should be up and running, with no limitations on number of uploads. Upload file size maybe no greater then 200kb. Homepage: This page is back online. New additon; ShoutBox will be used in final version release. Signature limits: Have been bumped from 500 characters to 750. Maximum of 2 images, plus 10 smilies.
Now that the major hurdle of upgrading a half gig mySQL database is over. I can focus on function, style, speed and features of our new website. No this is not FNK version six (6) but rather the beta2 release! I cannot give an approximate date on completion because well, I don't work on FNK like that. I can say that she will look 1000x better in the coming weeks, plus function a whole lot better then it might today. I appologise to anyone who might be frusterated by all this change but keep in mind this is a free public website not a paid to operate corperation. The time everyone puts in here at FNK (not just the website) is our own free time. That said, I hope you can find the newly revamped features of FNK benifital to your surfing needs. Don't get something? Lost inside the many boxes? Please ask away all the questions your mind can generate (in regards to the updates) I will be happy to answer all possible!
