Stagecraft/Acting
I never realized until recently how much stagecraft, lighting, sound etc and even theater, the reproduction of histories greatest has appealed to me.
How, with the proper cast, one can impress upon others feelings and thoughts. Even Shakespeare in it's somewhat difficult post dated era, you can reach out to people through body language, tone of voice, and expression. It's the stuff behind the scene as well, how the right props and costume can cause the scene to come alive, to take the audience that much further into a story. How the proper lighting, sounds, or music coming in on cue can forshadow, mystify or awe. i'm babbling. you get the picture. |

Goat... those are awesome observations! I am a theatre/theatre history student. You learn about all that jazz in theatre history. Belive it or not even the greeks thousands of years ago had very sofisticated sets and props etc. Stagecraft is a great industry to get into. Douglas has a very intense 2 year program, but you are almost guaranteed a job after. I myself have more of a calling for the acting itself, so that is what im pursuing. :) Good luck!

[quote] Post -dated means future dated...like it hasn't happened yet - and while I am an fan of Shakespeare and I think much of his work has meaning that has yet to be realized ..i don't think that's what you meant :) The example of the Claire Danes, Leonardo DiCaprio version of Romeo and Juliet I think showed much of the film viewing public that production is not just the sum of it's words; that people are apt to want to see things that has both depth and stunning presentation -- that the right cotumes, sets and visuals can make the complicated language of a time long past relevant to people with no interest in something like a Shakepearean work and that a viewer doesn't have to understand every word said to appreciate the work as a whole |
