Possible NHL Lock-Out next year

What are your thoughts?

Personally I think it's about time... I lost intrest in the NHL years ago when I noticed (before the rest of the world did it seems) that the NHL just isn't value for the buck.

Hopefully this will stabelize and correct player salleries. For fuck sakes they're paid millions to hours of attantion and play a game

- GO Minnesota North Stars! :P

i'm not going to pick a side in this, everyone rags on the players.

but from their point of view, the owners can pay some guy 5-9mill? how much is the team making? i mean seriously.

also in regards to settin up a pay scale type thing ie 20goals=x dollars. etc etc. look at it from say kovalchuks point of view. because i'm young i get fucked?

can these aging superstars, the sakics, shanahans, yzermans etc etc now just say, oh fuck these kids, i'm out in a year tops anyways, we've made our tens of millions, FUCK'M ALL.

i'm not saying this is going to be easy, but it goes both ways. players are overpaid...yes and no, look at vancouver. todd's our highest paid at about 7mill. that's not too bad in my opinion. if that was the highest.

it's teams like the rangers that fuck up the league. bobby holik=9mill? goddamn. boston's martin lapointe=5mill for a grinder? jesus christ.

no one holds a gun to the owners' head.

and don't say all players are greedy, paul kariya took a paycut of almost 9 mil to play on a winner.

ha... my team just signed Bondra. I know the team can afford it... That happened from ticket prices being slowly inflated over the 90s (once again, I bais that on the Senators, who didn't exist till 92).

I heard an interesting proposal and it was this. Once a player reaches free agency make the maximum length of a contract 1 year. That way every year there is plenty of opprotunity to sign the type of player a team needs. At the same time teams can still build from the bottom up with young players.

More supply = less demand
