awwww so many memories!
Spooky 5 - upstairs in VIP we met these cute Japanese girls who made their outfits out of these coloured cotton balls! it was crazy (I will try to find a pic) other than that, good times with the DA and company, dancing on stage, battling the EB and COV and whoever else back in the day...hahah...it seems really stupid now, but at the time, it was fun even though I haven't been to a plaza party in oh, probably, two and a half years, I'm sad that it's closing 'cause I could always have gone if I really wanted to, it was always there, but now it's not going to be there at my convenience! see you guys at grand finale |

wow.. where to start!
twisted 00.. was my first plaza party and my first encounter with drugs.. i remember pretending to have wings and going up and down the esculator. wow. twisted 01, i was outside the plaza of nations...didn't have a ticket, so i didn't go in.. but it was my 2nd time seeing kraig and he offered me a ticket..acting all big time and sheeit. i was swooning.. but i didn't take the offer. lol oh the many drug influenced memories up in the theater seats.. :kimmie: lauren is a huge memory...i think only sean and jamil knows this one. bhahaha. the NUMEROUS dance battles.. one of the firsts was with me and my old bestfriend, we had a sick sick routine down and we did it together, it was bad ass. oh yes..and also the routine with julie.. mmmmm. PON still not my all time fave venue, but it sure left some great memories. |

This one time sassy kitten (remember her?) and I managed to get really stoned at frostee...5? (I could be wrong about the #) and we were eating this big bowl of chips upstairs and there was this stupid couple that kept making out on the couches and it was really tacky...the girl even had this stupid blinking light on her visor that kept blinking red right in her face, which would normally be very annoying, but she didn't seem to notice through her hot, frantic ravemakeout.
So that's when we decided to start throwing chips at the blinking offender and eventually she noticed and then Natalie told her to 'turn the fucking light off' because it was 'stupid', and it was funny because the girl just looked totally weirded out and turned off the light and continued to make out. it was kind of funny. |

I have so many damn plaza memories since i workded there from summer of '99 to fall of 2003.
my first party, that one by nice in december of 99. i remember getting in before my friends and having to wait for them. i was so freaked out by the people there that i waited right by the entrance for 45 minutes before they got in. i did e for the first time that night and spent most of the night underneath the bar. frostee 4 was a crazy party....i dont remember specifics, except for it being really fun. supersweet 3D was really fucking good. lisa lashes rocked the casbah back when hard house was cool. phantasia was a really awsome time with the changing stages and the wall of bass bins that was 25 yards long. spooky 5 because it was so fucking packed. there was no room in that mother, all the way to the back of the main hall. also, mike and charlies set of breaks remixes in the bc room is still one of my favorite sets of all time. its the only time ive ever seen every single person in a room going off full throatle to a set! meeting this guy named "ridge raver" on napster and then finding out he lived in vancouver, and then getting him into hybrid in october 2000. that was mikey and from there i met the rest of the crew. new years 2001 is still my best party of all time. thats when i was still in full rave mode with the DA crew. i made so much gawdamn money selling tickets and ...errr...doing other stuff that night... setting up for that party took a week, but it made it all worth while when the power guy atached himself to a safety harness on a boom lift and a bungee cord, put on a cape, and "supermanned" across the plaza at 60 feet. getting in the whole cov crew on guestlist to dance on stage was great! add in 2 caps of happy face and a fucking packed out plaza with jon the dentist playing the biggest trance anthems made for a really amazing night. oh yah and the fireworks and hanging hummer were memorable. having to strike the whole plaza for carpet cleaning the next morning was horrible...having to move those 300 pound bassbins after 2 caps of e and no sleep in 24 hours is not fun. stargate was a fucked up night and the last time that plaza productions did a rave at plaza. that was the night that kid stabbed himself...fuckin sad. wett was a great party, and one of my last before i left to australia. last time i actually "raved." meeting my girlfriend and doing all the fun stuff with her at plaza. most importantly though, working with mikey, brian, mike, john kor, meghan, lil jen, kenji, jack, dennis, and all the other people that i worked with during the 4 years that made being there so much fun. ill be sad to see the plaza go...SO many memories. at one point i think i only missed 5 plaza raves out of about 50 parties. its not any fun for me there anymore...after flyering for history of breaks this morning outside of plaza im really glad i didnt go. |

FUCKING GOD... everything about plaza parties are memorable!! the old asian guys dominating the main stage with their tai-chi moves. haha.
The most memorable moment, for me however, was @ twisted IV - where these 5 chiks started stripping and making out in the smoke pit. yes it is hot, tina. go eww yourself. :-P |

Oh yeah.
And working there was memorable as well. Playing soccer in the mainroom while on shift before a party was always the bomb. Working with mikey aaron mike and kenji were great days. Blazing on the roof was so incredible. You look one way and there is Science World and look the other way and there is all of Vancouver. I never really got to thank Mikey and Aaron for gettin me that job. THANKS GUYS! |

Wow sooooo many memories in that building.
I have met sooo many great great people at plaza, my boyfriend, my best friend and pretty much all of my other friends. I'm gonna miss plaza so much! :( I think Spooky 5 was my most memorable party, first one is the best! First time doing E, I ran around like a crazy person and met as many people as I possibly could. A close second would be Spooky 7 when I met my bf. |

(shee-it. brings back memories. i'm glad to see that my sense of humour has progressed beyond 'say something meaning the opposite of what i really mean.' or has it?) Okay, Saturday night seems like a lifetime ago, and I've probably forgotten a lot of people who made my night special, so don't be upset if I forgot you! Here goes... Shouts too... The short mouthbreather that yelled "get out of my fucking way you mother fuckers" as he pummeled his way through the line, as he talked mindlessly on his cell phone. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have had a chance to explain my Short Man Syndrome theory to those in the lineup around me! The guy who threw the beer bottle that landed and exploded a few feet from where I was standing! Keepin' it real! The nammers (and I mean that in the nicest sense of the word!) that budged in front of us in the VIP ticket line. If it weren't for you guys talking incessantly in your extremely loud and annoying voices, I wouldn't have had any reason to make any sarcastic comments about the "vibe" at the party! Thanks guys! (On a side note, it was incredibly tragic to see that your purchased Very Important status was not to be so, after the girl working the booth informed you that your tickets were fakes. Oh well... I hope you kids found a carpeted floor somewhere that you could lay on while you did your drugs!) The CEO of www.ClubVibes.com who budged in front of about 20 people, blatantly. When I called you on your horrendous arrogance, you retorted with an extremely intelligent threat to "get a fist to my face." Thanks man! I never liked your site before, but I never really had a good reason not too. Call it a hunch, I guess. But now... now I have a good reason to bad mouth your site to everyone I know! Thanks! (On a side note, just because I've had poodles that were taller than you, doesn't mean you should have to have to be a prick.) Shouts to the guy working security in the Foyer, who essentially told Neena and I to stop having fun! Dude, if it weren't for you, I wouldn't have had the chance to make a scene and challenge the police state imposed on everyone at that party! Thanks man! Now maybe because of that incident, people will think twice about mindlessly complying to unmitigated commands. Shouts to Exert for employing excessive use of irony. The kick in the pants that styrofoam cups and warm, curdling, sandwiches that people paid 100 bucks for in the VIP lounge was just too funny! Dudes, that made my night! More shouts to Genesis! This time it's to the guy who wouldn't let me stand near the window and have fun, yet again. Apparently I'm not allowed to press my man-breasts against the window, giving those outside a much needed laugh. Shouts to Jordan from Sweet, who I saw many times near the tables, and yet managed to not bump into them. Wow man... it was getting close there a few times. I'm glad you managed to save the night by resisting the attraction that your ass has to the toner arms! Shouts to all the people who were wearing visors! Because we all know that's what real ravers wear! Again, more shouts to Genesis! To the guy that told use to put down the sign, werd up, y0! Again, you created yet another oppurtunity for me to create a scene and question your authority. Thanks! I love calling people on their demands. And hahahaha. When you threw away the sign and almost took out the eyes of three people when it went horridly off course, hahaha! man... that was funny! Thanks for the laugh! Shouts to the guys that got into the fight out front in the wee hours o' the morning. If it weren't for the distraction that you guys created, I would have never been able to sneak back in after I got locked out! Could there be more shouts to Genesis? Yes! I'd like to thank them for falling for everyone of my tricks, and allowing me to get into every nook and cranny that the plaza has to offer. It really makes me feel good knowing that in a building full of questionable types (gangsters, dealers, or just plain idiots) that anyone of them could have snuck a weapon if they knew how. Hell, thanks for letting Dave in with that Exacto-knife. If it weren't for that blatant oversight, we'd never have been able to cut the "No" out of the "No Smoking" sign! And, finally, serious props to the cops that escorted Mike and I out of the building for being up on the roof. Seriously. You guys ruled! I wish more people in positions of authority, contrived (*cough*genesis*cough) or otherwise, could treat me as humanly as you guys did... I had a great time! Thanks to all of you that made it an adventure! ][nkster (PS. Non sarcastic, super-serious thanks to the guys at Dreamone for taking pity on my ghetto costume at Spacebaby and giving me the tickets. You guys rule. I'll see you on Thursday ) |

okay, here are my plaza memories as my memory will permit
- finding that little nook in the bc room where all kinds of neat stuff was inevitably stashed. like that large roll of blue lighting gel which i proceeded to turn into a cape. - finding the elevator, which allowed me to get into the vip area, no questions asked. - finding the emergency exit with the ladder to the roof. - peeing on the roof. - getting locked inside of one of the emergency exits and having to admit defeat and leave. - getting dave to go back inside to 'look for his jacket' and open the emergency exit doors to allow me to enter again. - sneaking back inside while the FD was keeping about a thousand or so ravers outside in the cold. - liberating dozens of water bottles from the vip room. - getting backstage and pretending i was important. - the escalator. - having the choice of leaving through the front door, or gettin escorted out by the police a few minutes before the party shut down. - waving that stupid sign around, trying to incite even the slightest bit of spontaneity in the crowd - convincing ravegod (of electronicdynasty fame) that there was meat in the water. there'll be more. that's just what i can remember offhand. |
