Don't think I haven't drawn on a fucking wall with a paint can before.
You seem to like to think that I havent. And it didnt drip. Wasn't very interesting, as I like the tools on a computer better. Why don't you go put down someone who needs it instead. Anyways, zyx, I don't think she's standing in any place in particular? c_C it's just her doing a boring pose... with an abstract background... I need to start doing realistic backgrounds XD |

With letters you may need to "rock a style along with a color scheme", but that's a true statement for most other forms of art. Such an essential "quality" of graffiti is often applicable to many other genres and is not exclusive to graffiti. Quote:

LOL, man, if I liked it, I'd be proud of the fact that I liked it. If I say I hate it, I hate it. That's the way I am. :P And you, you like to lie to yourself to make yourself feel better, that's the way you are. But oh, well. I guess it can't be helped. <3

why dont u shut the fuck up and qwit saying ever is a liar cmon whell lynch yah yoko i have no real response to that because simply i dont have enough time and i cant understand all those words. well i dono i think letters are harder to create rather then a simple figure thats copped in all art. i can draw good charictors, even orijinal ones i dono. theres diff in the two. i find. graffiti has to be orijinal like whoa or u get no rec. drawing things is just usually a coppy of some one elses art u have seen b4. usually. its been awhile since i seen some hella orijinal art on this bord |

i feel like im back in grade school listening to this stuff.....why can't people just accept the fact that art, regardless of what kind, or how well its composed, is and always will be art to someone.
opinions are acceptable so long as they are worthwhile....I've only seen maybe a handful of posts in this thread that can come close to that....the rest is drivle coming from what sounds to be pre-pubesint minds....no real and true artists have such close minded opinions as I've seen here. Go to an art gallery and educate yourself. |

dude, listen. i'm in art school, and the shit thats making it on the scene right now, is graff or things with a certain graffiti charm. TRUST ME. anime was hype about 2 years ago, and slowly its morphing into a more graphic\pop art-esk genre. when i was sitting with 500 + other people before i got accepted and was comparing my shit, i was like whoa, theres alot of anime here. there are two anime artists in my program, our teachers just dont recognize it anymore. maybe thats a bad thing, but you need intense orgionality with your anime to be even thought of. my art tends to be a mixture of everything, its been getting a touch more animated then what it used to be, but still tend to lean towards realizm. i just had a 4 foot by 4 foot painting hung at a show, and its the only peice that sold. the only other peices that are being considered are the graffiti-esk ones, the rest are realism with some anime mixed in, and thjeres been no inquiries on any of them. please dont say graffiti is on a lower wave length, especailly not now. more and more graff is being seen in galleries. i forget what show it was but last year at granville island there were artists doing paintings on the spot on canvas or board and selling them. and its awful to say, i know, but usually the most expensive art is the highest trend at the time. also the man who baught my painting used to own a gallery, and he still travels looking for art for his personal collection. he said that there was definately an increase in graffiti stuff. i want to make myself clear that i dont hate anime and that im not hating on your work, just dont hate on graffiti. all art is subjective, and you need to start accepting this. if you want to persue it, be ready for people to hate you and your work. i had a peice torn off the wall this year at school, and i had to defend my shit to the majority of the class. all that mattered was that i love the shit i do, and so do SOME people. the beginning of the year i was like "fuck realism im so sick of it" and was doing mostly animated\over exageratted stuff, then this guy at school said he could draw better then me. i never turn down a challenge so we had a draw off, and we tied (our peers were the judges) dont think because someone "jsut does letters" is less talented than you. also, creating text is hard. ive been trying to create my own text for a comic book for about a year now, and its ruff. dont underestamte yourself, and dont underestamate others. |

unforunately no, i dont really like computers.... and they dont like me.
plus i have a big fear of someone stealing my work and putting their name on it... its lame i know, but its a fear. live near downtown or gonna be downtown? check out subeez (corner of homer and smithe) and there is a painting of mine hanging in there. its titled "little girl" by meghan davies. <----- i do stuff like that too, and all the other drawings i did with mspaint, and i hate it. i love what others can do with computers, but i love my pencils\paintbrushes\pastels ect more. |
