The X-Factor...
(Now maybe this has already been posted in another forum, I didn't check, I just feel that it needs to be read by everyone who had planned on going and this is the most highly read forum soo...)
To the disappointment of many, the latest loungeX/Electronic Rush party will not be happening. Unfortunately the required support and number of people needed in order to make an event like this happen was not reached. Investors decided it was too risky and thought it best to cut losses by not doing the event and pulled out. It is very disappointing, but after trying various possible solutions, the event cannot happen. I tried finding a different venue and merging with other parties but either solution was not possible. Dave who is throwing the "Nightmare" party on October 26th and I tried to work something out so we could combine the shows but the venue was uncomfortable with the possible new situation. I tried getting ticket holders into other smaller warehouse events but they didn't feel comfortable with extra people coming to their smaller shows. The biggest disappointment is that I've let down supporters and ruined Halloween 2001 for them. I'm so sorry. I tried to put together a large-scale event with big talent at a reasonable price, but not enough people wanted to go. It's hard to compete against a well-known name like the "Spooky" series and I probably shouldn't have listened to people that said, "on a high-profile night like Halloween _everyone_ goes out to a party". Well not this party, unfortunately. Chances are had I waited a few weeks and thrown the party in November all would have been good and lots of people would have wanted to come. But, as with past Halloweens, it always seemed like their was an "alternative" to the big mainstream party. This year with Sweet/AMP not doing their "Wicked" show, and with convincing from some investors, I decided to put on the "alternative" show. I even had support from the promoters of Spooky and wouldn't have gone forth without their "ok". Well, with only days away and a small number of tickets sold, I can not proceed. I'm not even sure if I'll do another show at this point. I'll personally refund ANY/ALL X Factor tickets, it just may take awhile for me to do that. The other option is to throw Come Together 4, December 15th and honour all remaining tickets there. But with my rotten string of luck over the years, I don't know if enough people would support another LX show. For the record, _everything_ was completely in order for this show, permits paid, deposits paid etc etc etc. It would have been an absolutely amazing show with the onslaught slide projector system we've been working on. Perhaps it can be unleashed another day. I'm sorry. It hurts to have disappointed my friends and supporters. I hope that everyone can still make plans to enjoy Halloween and show off their costumes somewhere. I highly recommend attending Dave's "Nightmare" party on October 26th, there should be information in the promotional section. To the people I've let down, to the DJ's, to the LX regulars and supporters, to those that bought and paid for tickets in advance; my deepest most sincere apologies. Over the years, I've always tried to put on quality shows. I've managed to put on some pretty fun events with high production levels and always tried to put as much "show" into the budget as possible. I had hoped that more people would have wanted to come to The X Factor, but the number of tickets sold inidicates the opposite; thus the logic from a business stand point if noone is coming then why do it. Some will say, "the party should happen anyway, they should just bite the bullet" but it's not always that easy. I do this for the love not the money. I can honestly say that and those who know me personally know that to be true. Doing it for love is one thing, possibly having $15,000+ in bills Sunday morning is another. I'm sorry. I tried to go against the grain and provide something new and different, but not enough people wanted to see. Much love and respect. Sincerely, Allan Harding lounge X productions [email protected] |

get some new dj's..
I noticed on the flyer (no offense to Al or any of the LX team) The dj's on the flyer i've seen them many times before, almost all of the LX parties these guys have played at. Newer talent would be cool, see what others can do. If they can perform as good as the dj's on the x-factor flyer, but yes, X-factor was going to be a great party.. but what im really upset.. NO FUCKING WAFFLES IN THE MORNING!! Ninjaboy, hold me :( - SoniK |
