barstars at vancouver parties.

well went to my first Van party twisted 2004!!! VERY nice venue(you van city kids are so lucky to have had that), great lights, sound was good dj's were awsome the stage looked fuckin pimp all kinds of crazy things ive never seen at parties before like the O2 bar :), so the party itself was awsome the people at the party were not, this really took me off gaurd the parties ive been to or throwin are sooo different its fucked.

BARSTARS- i have never seen so many juiced out dudes standing around trying to look cool in my whole life, these guys pay 60$ so they can go to a party with no shirt on, they dont dance they have no apriciation for the dj skillz they are total fucking losers, same goes for alot of the chicks there dressed to impress but bring nothing to the scene. I was sitting in some area near the vip stairs sketching out and i asked some guy if i could buy a joint off him and he just looks at me like im retarded and says "does it look like i smoke joints, im here for the pussy" oh yeah good luck with that you fucking dork.I see all kinds of threads on this board asking why the scene in van is dying or whatever will this is it,the scene down there is so fake i almost feel sorry for you actuall party goers.

JUNGLISTS'- Now maybe it was the handfull of these idiots i met because i cant imagine them all being so full of themselves, but these people think they are the absolute shit,i was standing in the breakz room and this chick asks me if im a junlglist i was like nope then shes asks what i listen to and i tell her hard techno and i got this look from like i was the biggest loser at the party and then she just took off this happend 2 more times in the breakz room, who do these people think they are, so you enjoy dancing to break beat more then straight beat big fucking deal, that doesnt make you above anybody else or more hardcore. try dancing to 147bpm for an hour then let me know how hardcore you are.

I did however meet a few really cool people at the party but not many,so many stuck up people it was almost like most of these people have never been to a rave its all about meeting new people not acting like an asshole or thinking your better then everybody else or maybe thats just the vancouver scene.

I haven't been to the plaza in a really long time but that sounds fairly similar to what I remember. I always used to wish that I could take 200 of the people there and have a small private party... oh wait a minute!

Maybe it's just the Plaza. I wouldn't know, really. The real scene seems to be at Lotus, Shine, Sonar, and (sometimes) The Drink, from what I've discovered since moving down here (as well as a smattering of special nights at others). Great times all around at each of these places; lots of different styles to be had (even on the same nights at the 2-room venues), some of the biggest talent as well, hardly any attitudes (some places don't even have any), and, most importantly, REDBULL/VODKAS!!!!

I wouldn't give up on the Van scene just yet. Like the raves of yore, the more underground it is, the better it gets; and some of these places are Vancouver's best kept secrets, IMO.

plaza raves can be fun, but to think that the people there represent the rave scene of vancouver is just silly. I bet you only 20% of the people there actually know what kind of music they're listening to, let alone what dj is playing it.

That's being pretty generous Miska, i was thinking more along the lines of 5%.
Whether barstar, junglist or whatever-the-hell-they-want-to-call-themselves, it's part of 'the scene', it creates diversity.
we could bitch and complain about anything and everything until the cows come home.
but i think ima go touch someone instead.

plurry huggles'n'giggles'n'shit.

True man clubs are always happening. Minimal idiots. I always find at clubs the DJ's love to playout as well. Great mixing, they really get into it. Nothing to take away from raves.

Just something i think to be true

I was thinking 20% was pretty generous too, but we can't underestimate the trancers in the main room. A surprising amount of them actually know what they're flailing around to.. lol

Another barstar bashing post?

Make sure you know the diffrece between a barstar VS
druged out/skanky mess underwear wearing 15 year old/ppl who have a lot of money to waste on nothing

btw: if it wasnt for the "barstars" or ppl who pay $60-$75 a ticket we wouldnt have a lot of the partys we do now...

next time you should thank them ;)

Whoever asked me if I have ever been to a club. the answer is yes. I've been to both and i been to both for the past few years. Some people really are stupid on this board haha.

Oh yea and again whoever gave me bad karma. I said not taking anything away from raves, goddamn you people seriously need to get your heads checked and stop jumping the gun.

Seriously analyze a post than proceed to bitch alright?

To steal a Will Smith line, "Naw, that's too easy."

Really, I have no problem with barstars. It's rather amusing that a large amount of them go to a bunch of the Granville clubs not to go there, but to be there (even if it's just in the line), but I don't hold it against them. They're quite fun to chat away with as you're stumbling down Granville from a pub to one of the clubs I mentioned.

Kenji, i agree.. lots of times seeing a DJ at a club, whatever style of music.. If its a headlining DJ.. alot of the people goto the club because they are familiar with there work, and want to see them play.. some go just cuz they like the style of music the dj spins. Either way i love going to a club to see a DNB dj/s.

Hardstylin' whoever the junglists u met, forget them. Some people at partys might try and act all hardcore, hating on other styles of music, and saying they are a "junglist"... but very few of them are actual drum&bass heads. As in they really do follow drum&bass, and pay attention to the dnb dj's who are spinning. Alot of my friends who like DNB, wouldn't be all snobby like that, or go out of there way to ask someone what kinda of music they like, just so they can act like a dick when they find out that person doesen't follow there tastes...the people u talked to are just idiots..

Actualy, I found out about my first Vancouver party through Clubzone. And I'm not a barstar like I previously posted.

ahh yes...see with me i think that i could come across as a "barstar" to alot of people by looking at me..cuz i love dressing up for parties..just something thats fun for me..i dont go to impress ne one..ive never once gone to a party to "hook" up with anyone ever and never plan on it..im there for the music and to dance...nothing can compare to the amazment i feel when im at a party watching my fav dj's spin live..its just incredible..and u cant find that feeling any were else but a rave..especially being underage ..but i can see how ppl could mis judge me for a barstar because of some of the things i wear..if u actually got a chance to talk to some of the girls (such as myself) ud understand that u cant really judge everyone by what u see right...i wear wut i wear because it makes me feel good about myself and i dont care wut other ppl think...my personality doesnt really match my appearence is what im told alot..ppl expect me to be one of those stuck up girls..when realy i cant stand girls or guyz who think that way...ne ways i understand completly what ur saying..and yes there is way to many ppl going to raves to get ass..wich is sad and discusting...but wut can u do right?

It's a Plaza party. Flyers are all over the place. Tickets are bought at Metrotown. I've heard plaza ads on Z95.3. What the fuck did you expect?

I've been to plenty of big non-barstar filled parties. They just weren't at the Plaza.

Lunch Box has a little shameless behaviour in the past
get over it.. thats just the way it is.. there's a market for it.. they have the money.. just the same reason why all the large parties have trance in the main room.. there is more coin there.. thats the way life is man..

Don't bash the barstars.

They are the ones who help subsidize the ticket prices.
