It's kind of ironic because dispite all the political correctness of our time people who don't have a lot of money are treated very much like second class citizens. Some things just don't change over time.
My husband and I were actually discussing something similar the other day. People who live in trailer parks have a really raw deal, I mean..at least here in the US. It seems people who patron trailers are the scurge of almost everything.
If I really wanted to get deep into it I could go into how the lack of labor unions (here in the US) or the vanishing pride of the working class has more-or-less caused a solid "middle class" to dissappear altogether. Now it's been replaced with "lower-working class", and what used to be considered "blue collar" is now thought of as "poor". It's the age of excess, I guess. If you're family owns less than two cars, two computers and doesn't have digital cable and a celluar phone you're considered poor. People pussy foot around that but it's just the way it is.
Won't change either. Unless something drastic happens to totally change the mindset of we indulgent Americans.
