i didn't know about the history, i just thought it was an ugly trend made stupidly popular, a la Uggs. thanks for sharing.
in regards to the line, especially those heinous trucker hats, they're so trendy they're no longer trendy. the clothes-obsessed fashion-forward may have worn them a year ago, but now they wouldn't be caught dead in them. it's all the chachis and the highschool kids now. (and no, i wouldn't dream of referring to myself as "fashion-forward", i'm just a broke student so don't get as easily sucked into the trends, haha.) |

With Von Dutch being a rascist and having other ethnicities wear his clothes , one might be reminded of the Hilfiger incident
Also the latest trend in maltese crosses with west coast choppers has a rascist connotation, on its own would be ok but with bikers and with the nazi party sporting that shit back in the day with motorcycles it gives it a rascist connection ... yet I'm seeing every fool wear that shit. Basically people are fucking stupid! |

wow pretty much sums it up.. the first i saw a Von Dutch hat was prolly on the head of one of the hilton sisters.. I don't even see truckers wear them.. I remember way back when i was about 6 or 7 my grandfather gave me a 76 fuels trucker hat.. and i told him.. thats one ugly hat man.. who would wear that.. its all mesh in the back what tha fuck is that good for... honestly. anyway. i personally don't like them but it makes no difference. i hate many fads/fashions. like look @ the early 90's what the fuck beat ppl that senseless. Just live you lives.. if you feel you are being a slave to corporate logos don't be ashamed just think you can put volunteer on your resume from now on YOU FUCKING BILLBOARD !!! ( its all Advertising) fuckers.

Kenneth Howard self named "Von Dutch" grew up in south Los Angeles, or the May wood area. The son of a sign painter, who painted several well known landmarks in the Los Angeles, California area.
It has been written that his father designed the Western Exterminator Company logo. This is not the case. Vaughn Kauffman, a Yellow pages layout artist, actually designed the logo in 1928. Walker Howard, Kenneth's father had painted the sign. Walker Howard pin striped the flower carts at Farmer's Market in L.A. , which is where Von Dutch picked up on the technique. It also should be noted that Walker Howard gold-leafed the doors of City Hall. www.bikernet.com/news/specials/vondutch.asp To all who dunno, von dutch the clothing designer is not original. The real Von Dutch is one of my all time favs! |
