Yesterday (April 28), my dog Lilly and I went up for a hike in the mountains behind Cumberland.
The first picture here is the trail we walked up. The perspective is way off, but it’s pretty steep.
Here’s a picture of the adorable mutt, which could take on a subterranean beast any day. Watch out Dr. Peelu!
The forest can smell pretty bad when this skunk cabbage heats up.
Rumour has it that a hobo built this shack many years ago during the great battle of cheese. He still lives in it today, but I think that it’s a chlorination treatment building for the village water.
Here’s my adorable mutt chasing after a possible subterranean beast.
These few pictures show Courtenay, Comox and in the distance Powell River. My camera isn’t very great so it doesn’t pick up all the detail but it’s a great view for a short hike.
Most of the area is clear-cut.
We found a decent sized swamp in the distance so we headed towards it.
Swimming time!
Here’s the adorable mutt drying off. Soon after I took this picture I tripped over a few logs and sprained and cut my ankle nicely. The journey would have to end soon.
No matter where you are, the view is great! Here are some mountains.
When I was heading back I noticed all these rocks piled up on the side of the road. I wasn’t really too sure what to make of it until I got closer I noticed that there was money in it. I’m not really too sure what to think of it – maybe a cheap geo-cache or some kind of booby-trap. None the less, I left it as-is and kept going.
Here’s a dandelion that I tried to do a close-up of. It looks decent in the high-res version.
This one looks good with the bugs on it.
And that’s it. I’m hopeful to go back out again today and see what I can find.
