I'm taking a PADI diving certification course and I'm so freaking excited!

I can't wait for my first open water dive...

BEST LATE BIRTHDAY PRESENT EVER!

I wanted to take that PADI course for the last 3 years. My sister got her cert and loves it.

I'm such a major procrastinator.

they wont take you into open water if you fail your pool diving tests.

and trust me those are very, very hard.

the stuff you learn in the pool. There's room for mistakes. I had an incident in the pool involving my regulator, I swallowed a lot of water. When i got in the ocean (i belive they'll take you to 25 ft) i made sure i did that one right.

Its a different world thats for sure. But its a great expirience.. going diving is an incredible thing to do.

best $450 i ever spent.

i took my open water and advanced this summer in thailand....fuck, it was nuts...
it took me quite a while to get used to breathing through the regulator, but once ur out in open water, its insane.so much shit to look at, you just breathe like normal.i want to go diving again for sure.

hey LDUB, do u have a link for diving in van? my gf wants to do it and it would be a swell bday present.

Who are you taking the course through Lauren. It would be so strange if it was my ex bf's shop (BC Dive Adventures). They opened a store in kits last year. They are good. At whitecliff if they have an option of a boat dive. TAKE IT!!!! You get to go closer to the island that has octopus and its less murky because your near the wall instead of over the sand.
Lugging 50 or more pounds of gear up and down after being tired and in a suit SUCKS BALLS! lol but good exercise. It will be a lot of fun. I took the course with my mom for her b-day. But also because my bfs dad owned the shop and I got to go for free.
PS: dry suits are cool because after you get past the thermocline it gets dam cold.
Anyway have fun. It really isn't that hard. It's all really basic instruction but all of it is really important to follow. Hopefully you get a good and fun instructor.

If you really like it I recomend trying a good wall dive around some of the islands. There is soo much to see.

yeah when i went to porteu cove i saw sealions as well. when i saw them i just about filled my pants. you would never feel uneasy if you were to see a sealion while you were on land... but in the water it's a whole different story. you're in their element... unless you have a diving knife you are pretty much defenseless. plus those fuckers get pretty damn big.

lol im sure you're right, but it still sounds funny in a cute sort of way that you're scared of a sea lion. do they have big scary fangs or something? haha

Well they are big animals. lol But I think I would want to pet them more then cut them :p
It was funny when I went diving I thought it was soo cool when this big octopus came out and grabed my leg. My bf at the time was freeking he had his knife out already. I was just like, Cool!!!
I'm not really sure about the temperment of sea lions but I know seals are great fun to dive with. So playfull.

haha true, but you're on their turf... even cute litten kittens & puppies get all pissy and defensive when you enter their territory.

This is whom I'm taking mine through. My uncle has been diving for years and years and really recommends them.

There are a large number of other shops especially in Vancouver though...
