EBay Fraud
What do you do (besides leave negative feedback) if you have paid a seller on EBay through PayPal and have not received the item, the seller has not been returning your e-mails, etc...? I am not quite in that situation yet, but I could be. Just sketched out after taking a closer look at the seller's user feedback. Kinda looks like he has a LOT of different accounts and just buys/sells to himself and leaves 4-5 different good comments within the same minute from each user account. Every so often, he has a bad feedback like "Seller has not sent me my item. It has been two weeks, and no responses to any of my e-mails." The auction only ended yesterday...I e-mailed him last night but he hasn't responded yet. Not quite sure if I'm being paranoid or what, but something fishy is in the air for sure. Just want to find out what I should do in case I really did just get scammed of my money.

I just experienced this not too long ago when ordering an Avon Christmas plate for my mother (as a gift, of course). The auction ended on December 7th. I made my payment via PayPal on December 9th. After one week...I heard no word from the seller. Two weeks went by (it's almost Christmas!) and no word!
It is now after Christmas and I hear back from the seller...they said they shipped it but could not provide the proof that they did. You may want to use SquareTrade dispute resolution...they handle all ebay claims for fraud and for items not received. Initiate a case with them and fill in all the required information about the problem. This information with then in turn be sent to the seller for them to respond to the allegations. This is known as 'Direct Negotiation'. You can, at anytime, appoint a Mediator to your case...but I would not recommend this for small dollar value claims. The plate that I got gyped out of only costed $15 and was not even worth pursuing. Once you have initiated the case through SquareTrade, try your best to contact the seller via phone, email or writing. If you cannot have it resolved by that method, contact ebay to advise them to put the seller on Fraud Alert. Try and do this 90 days after the end of the auction, otherwise your claim for fraud will expire. Needless to say I didn't know any of this procedure until after my 90 days, thus lost the opportunity to pursue the matter. I'm hoping this helps. I hope that any info I can provide to someone who has experienced the same thing will assist. Cheers! |

request their information to send money, then send an email... if they dont answer.. dont send any money..always look at feedback before u bid... it looks fishy, it's best off goin with a more expensive one with better feedback.. and also u can get contact information.. like phone number to contact that person.. my msn email didnt work for some strange reason and i thought the guy wasnt emailing me back but that was not the case so i just gave him a call, he was a nice guy about it and it all worked out.

dont report it to ebay. they dont do shit.
you can contact paypal and they can try to retrieve the funds from the account but you probably wont get your money back that way. the best thing to do is dispute it with your credit card company. see how it plays out for the next month or so, but then contact your credit company and tell them this person is frauding you. you'll get your money back for sure. good luck. |

shxtty. i bid on the item last minute in a rush, so i just skimmed through the first page of user feedback, which was all positive. i guess i should have looked at the cumulative points (duhhhh).
is there any way that a user could leave feedback under his own account from a second (or third/fourth, etc) account? i think that's what this guy did...it's only been a few days so he might not be frauding me, but i looked closer at his feedback and there were some pretty damn bad negative ones in there about him not shipping anything and not returning e-mail messages. that's why i'm being all sketched out right now...it's not a small amount that i bid either. i contacted my bank...they said they cannot stop payment and that it's up to paypal to deal with it. so i called paypal and they said they can't stop payment until it goes into the guy's account, and i have to then file a claim saying that he didn't send me the product...but this is while my money is ALREADY in his bank account. i dunno. if i don't get anything in the mail, i really don't see me getting my money back. sigh. it was supposed to be a blingy sentimental gift too. |

I have been quite lucky and have been burned twice for small items (DVD's) but all the big purchases like my snowboards and cell phones (most recent is a Treo 600 for $400US) are as advertised.
I also pay via Paypal and link it to a credit card. If you get screwed tell the credit card company and they can reverse the charges as most companies have a policy to assist with eBay/internet purchases. But like anything else it is buyer beware and do your homework. There are still great deals to be had via eBay, you just have to know what it is worth and wait. |

It sounds like I just got fucked out of a card reader, only $21 or so shipped. I deposited the money into their accoun, then their system crashed. called them, the usual shit. they have like 3000 positive feedbacks, but then around the time I bought something from them they have a whole bunch of shitty feedback. They are mp3playerstore.com, I won't be dealing with them again.
I did get a good deal on my digi cam, saved me $160 or so after all was said and done :) |
