Ear Stretching Question..
yeah i plan on getting these done.. but im just curious if they will heal properly when taken out.. i don't plan on getting something super huge..cause i don't see myself as a 70 year old man w/ holes in my ear.
and does anybody know how much it costs to get it done too? i'll post up a pic later. Last edited by speeDemon; May 06, 04 at 05:29 AM. |

i haven't stretched my ears in awhile...heh i can't even remember if it cost anything (i think round 20), it might have been free :/
either way, they'll go back to normal if you stretch them properly and not too big...meaning don't rip the hole, wait a couple months between gages and keep it clean i think i got 6 gages, i tried to go to 4 but after 4, 6 months - 1 year i still couldn't get my ears to stretch into a 4 so i gave up |

don't skip a guage or two when stretching. ex: 10g->8g->6->4g->2g->0g-> to custom. the idea is to stretch the earlobe, not scar.
also, i'd reccomned staying around a 6 or 4 guage if you ever want your ears to go back to normal whenever you decide to take 'em out. |

Ihad mine at an 8g last summer and they are back to normal now... it just take time to stretch it out... and then it goes back to normal...
At a tattoo shop in tacoma i saw this guy with custom rims in his ears they were huge... like over an inch in diameter... they were crazy but i dont think those are going back down to size any time soon... |

The size in the picture looks about 2g which is where mine are now after being at an inch. It's a decent stretching pain type feeling. I got my left era pierced and proceeded to move up a size every few days. I luckily never ripped my lobes but they won't go any smaller without an autoplasty procedure which costs about $500 depending on the cosmetic surgeon. The procedure is basically making the healed skin raw and open again and carefully stitching up aiming for a proper shape.

they could go back to normal w/o the surgery if u don't stretch them that big though right? ... and inch is pretty big.. i don't want it that size.. i wanted to get something small like in the picture. |

they have stretcher bobber things at a peircing place, but the best thing to use is regular tape, believe it or not. Just wrap a new layer around your peircing each day, your ear will gradually stretch around to accomodate more space being used.
i went from a 6g to a 2 guage, just shoved it through it was messy and not reccommended one bit. the idea is to stretch the ear without breaking the skin. as soon as skin is broke your it creates scar tissue. too much scar tissue can lead to blocking of circulation and a lot of other really nasty side affects. |

arg.. I wanna strech mine again.. but I can't afford it :(
the jewerly is just too expensive! arg... but carefull when straching.. blood is not a good thing.. but with skippin gages.. it really all depends on the person... I've streached my ears and skipped gages many times.. but I'm just an idiot.. ask max.. haha. I dunno.. could say a lot on the shit.. but I dont feel like typing it out.. heh.. yeh. which reminds me.. MAX. I still have your 8 gage hoops. |

I went from the normal guage of 18 gu...straight to 10 gu > then 8 gu > then 6 guage. The 18-10 guage was a huge jump, but not so much...I got it done at a piercers and he stuck a metal taper with lubrication in my ear then the new jewellery. That cost quite a bit though...I think just over $100 for the jewellery and insertion.
Then I went back to get my 8 guage CBR's in and spent a fortune again, but I wish I hadn't because they went in SOOO easily. They just slid in. I inserted my 6 guages in myself but that was a bit more of a struggle...but they went in and I had no problems with them. My advice: Get a piercer to stretch them the first time and then do the rest yourself (expecially if you're going from 10-8 guage. not a huge difference). OR I believe there's a few places downtown who will charge you $100 or so the first time, and then $10 each time after that. Just check with a few places downtown. ALSO: when you're inserting them yourself, use A LOT of lubrication something like KY that is water based. and finally, you can also use tapers to stretch your ears...they're the pointy things you can get at piercing places and kiosk with O-Rings to hold them into place. Just lubricate the ear and taper and try to push it further in each day or so (and then keep them in) They don't cost too much. Maybe $15 each. Happy stretching! |

i had 2's in mine which i took out 3 years ago, and they shrank a little but i can still fit a 4 in them.
i think when i had it done you just paid for the jewelry, and traded it in everytime you want to stretch, if it was more expensive you'd just pay the difference. It may have changed now though..... |
