No. Downhill is even more dangerous though, as you are essentially making a very highly controlled fall.
Seriously. They call it the Hike of Doom for a reason. The only reason we go at the rates we do is because we have certified medics with us. It's not as steep as a straight rock climb, but it is a good 45-minute run up a creek. The higher you go the steeper it gets. We only usually go up to what we call "The Pools of Doom" which is a really nice waterfall and big 6' deep eddy, where we go swimming. Over the summer we're prolly gonna go on some climbs on these mountains. It's nice being so close to the Middle Of Nowhere where all you have around you is mountains to climb.
