I don't see anyone sucking up to Sammy. Whats wrong with someone complimenting another's art work? Or a friend supporting a friend? |

There is a constant gaggle of fag hags sucking up to Sammy on this board, and yes I am a bitter person and I hate everyone except a few select people. Why? Because you are all for the most part a bunch of fake ass kissing bitches. Just like most people I meet on the street. People these days make me sick. I just wonder if you would all like Sammy so much if he wasn't such a popular artiste.

Personally, when I met Sammy I really had no idea about his art. |

Being happy and supportive of your friends' successes is now considered brown nosing?
Well, I'd sooner be a brown noser than an unsupportive friend, that's for sure. I like to see my friends accomplishments, I like to see them happy and successful. |

I'm with -ff-, $30 is a lot of bling. I like your art Sammy, but frankly the stuff you posted kind of scares me. Not being negative, I just get the heebie jeebies. :( |

haha yea i think i get what you're saying
over the past few months i've been really into exaggerating proportions of limbs...i did a couple of photoshoots involving models on stilts and stuff and this project was just the next step in the exploration/expirementation i suppose. i did want the viewer to feel slightly uncomfortable when viewing the photos and they have a much better effect in real life i think because they're much bigger (16x20)...i might even enlarge them even bigger this summer. i'm really thinking about enlarging the bathtub one and the pink bathroom one to near-life size. -s. |

i used my shitty ass Canon Rebel Ti 35mm
i used a lot of different kinds of film for each shoot cuz they were all under different lighting conditions...i'd have to check my journal. each peice is composed of around 36 individual frames layered digitally in photoshop. i scanned in my negs and composed the finished peices in photoshop but i made 4x6 workprints in the dark room initially and put together composite working prints on matte boards...sort of like a blueprint for the final design. it was inspired mostly by the works of david hockney, floria sigismondi and pre-raphealite photographers such as Rejlander and Peach-Robinson who used the composite print methods back in the 1800s. i used pretty consistent natural lighting for the project just so each frame would blend together better. my first attempt at this, i used a mets flash with a diffuser and the lighting from frame to frame was really inconsistent so i redid the shoot using a strobe with around 3 bulbs, diffusers and umbrellas and grates on each bulb but it still didn't create even enough lighting so i ended up using static natural light that existed in each location i shot in. if i were to do more portraits like this in the future though, i'd probably use a medium or large format...i was thinking of using my cambo but itw as too bulky to get around from location to location. i should be getting my hasselblad in the next couple of weeks so i kind of want to do another portrait like this on medium format just to see how big i can make the final peices...and also...using a hasselblad, i'll be able to capture more in each frame cuz they're square format negs (i'm only getting a six six back...six four five backs are too expensive and kinda pointless i think) -s. |

WOW!
Sammy, i really LOVE your work, and im critical when it comes to art so it means a lot coming from me. My favorite is of the girl in the red addidas starter, but all of your pieces conveys open ended messages that could be explored by various spectators. I admire art that isnt generic, or self explainatory, its great that i can Interpret your work in the way i see them in my mind, and then another can percieve them totally differnet. That is the mark of great art, and a great mind, its truly ambiguous to the viewer, until they put their own spin on it. The artisit in the only one who knows where they were going with the piece.....anyway this is starting to get 'epic like' ill shut, beautiful work, you are fucking talented. I just have to add, the guy is asking for support at his artshow and your putting him down and calling him ego driven. not cool. support the arts. |

Your right, i did sense a little Steve Madden action going on. I still liked it, but your right, the concept behind it wasnt utterly original. |

Nonetheless, I HIGHLY doubt Sammy ripped off Steve Madden...sometimes ideas that we have spring from things that we have heard/seen in the past but that do not register as actual memories. |
