hahahah....
Should the City of Vancouver continue to allow legal Raves? Yes (40%) No (59%) I'd like to know what happened to the other 1% I voted yes, but only because mainstream parties do a really good job of keeping trend followers out of the underground scene. yes, I'm an elitist. sue me. |

i kinda think..
That they should be made illegal again..
Then the regulations will go away, as with the permit process... Ticket prices will go down, venues will be interesting again, and people who show up at them wont be opportunistic bastards who sell crap E that kills people. Only bummer is that more parties will get busted too. I think that the "legal rave" vs. the "legally gray party" is what totally killed this scene. Oh well. Bars in Vancouver will be open all night soon.. Thats the next "legal rave wave" anyways. One way or the other... We'll keep throwing events no matter what. |

Sir K...
The only reason I don't agree with your logic there is that if ALL parties were made illegal, then all there would be are the small ones everywhere. No massives too attract the kinds of people who are going to OD and do stupid shit, etc. Those massive goers would all start going to underground parties and bring their bad party habits with them. It would result in more ODs./deaths (or any OD's/ deaths PERIOD) at small parties, and alot more of them would get busted too because some kids just don't know how not to be heaty. Not to mention that the media right now probably has NO IDEA how many small underground parties go on, and if massives were taken out of the picture, then the media attention would be focused solely on illegal parties and give them a bad name. so for those reasons, I think massives should be kept legal, in order to mask the underground scene from everyone else. |

Rytalin
Rytalin or Luke or whatever:
I see your point, and agree with what you've said there. But the flipside is this: Look at the enforcement of drugs: Marijuana... Cocaine... E... Heroin.... Whatever... Even though its totally illegal and heavily punishable by law, the cops cant really do a thing to stop it. When a heroin junkie ODs it doesnt even make the news because its all an illegal underground thing.. Vs. what happened at Spooky - where its front page material - although 2 deaths of 4600 is WAYYY better odds than what happens to the serious addicts on the streets. (Although anyone dying is a terrible thing. :( ) Once they legalize it, then they create ammo to shut down the small parties - "You dont have a permit, you're busted" and keep the big parties going "Pay your permit, $1000 please, thankyou" because it becomes a moneymaker for the city. I dont know.. I'm kind of divided on the issue.. But I like the scapegoat idea, I like the totally illegal idea... It requires some serious thought for all of us. peacout |
