Unbelievable.. you can make a case for Marquez winning the fight.. he controlled most of it besides the first (generally speaking.. Pacquiao was definetly right there!)... but for those of you who didn't hear this detail:
The fight was scored a draw. One judge had Pacquaio winning, one had Marquez winning, and the other had it tied. The judge who had it tied scored the first round 10-7 for Pacquaio, while the other two had it 10-6
Here's the problem with that. Pacquaio knocked his opponent down 3 times in that round. Under the 10 point must scoring system, both fighters start with 10 points in each round.. you get 1 taken away for losing the round, and 1 taken away for every time you're knocked down.
Marquez was knocked down 3 times. Which makes it 10-7.. I don't know about you, but I figure a round in which you get knocked down 3 times.. you probably lost the round. Which makes it 10-6, as two judges managed to figure out.
If the 3rd judge scored the 1st round as 10-6, which he clearly should have, he no longer has the fight as a draw on his scorecard, he has Pacqiuao winning. Which means 2 judges to one have Pacuiao winning. Which means he wins the god damn fight!!!
Man... nothing like boxing to stir up a bit of controversy... and to give me the opportunity to misspell Manny's name 8 different times.
