mine if I join guys?

Whats the topic though the conference finals?

Ok Lakers beat a tired T'Wolves tonight, but that wasnt really a big surprise. KG was commin off a 46 minute game 7, and the Twolves were just to tired to hold off the lakers in the 4th quarter as they stole game one on the road.

The T'Wolves have the edge at the 1 and 4 spots as well as a deeper bench, (which will really come into play later in the series) keymatchup for the wolves is Hassel on Kobe. Hassel did a good job on stars like melo and Peja, but Kobe is the best one on one guy in this league he will really have his hands full (but hey its better then having wally guard him again). Spree will also take his turns with Kobe, but he isnt nearly as good a defender as Hassel. X-factor has to be the Kandi man. He hasnt played much in the post season, but as you could see from his perfromance in game one hes ready to battle Shaq like he used to. Cept this time it isnt in no shitty clipper uniform

The Lakers have the edge and expierence with Kobe and Shaq, plus the mailman wants a ring so bad he will die for it. Keymatch up for the Lakers has to be Malone on KG. With his power and expierence Malone is prolly the best person to matchup with the MVP. He will have to rely on Shaq to guard the rim when KG beats him off the dribble, but in the post Malone will be a problem for KG. X-factor has to be derrek fisher, after that .4 second shot nothing would surprise me with this guy, he is Mr Clutch so look for him to step up at the perfect moment

They play 3 games in 5 days, so im looking for the Lakers to take an early lead (maybe 2-0) but I expect the see the wolves bounce back and win a few. I see this series going to at least game 6. My heart goes to the wolves, but my money is on the lakers. Once again it all comes down to the fact that you cant stop the big fella when he wants it.

Ill do indi and D later though. What do you guys think about this matchup?

^^ woohoo nice! we have another bball fan in the house! ur more than welcome to join... always good to meet bball heads that know their stuff

ya u made a lot good points too... i think doug collins said the same stuff, like how the Wolves still needed time to recover from their game 7 with Sac. And nobody can stop Kobe. First round, you had Mobley and Jackson guarding him... second round, it was Bowen and Brown. This round makes no difference. Hassell is good, but he aint no MJ-type defender. Kobe is an MVP-caliber player... you need someone who is an MVP-caliber player also guarding him. I would put KG on him, but of course KG already has his hands full. I think the only person who can defend Kobe is Artest, which I predict will happen in the Finals.

I totally agree with you about Kandi being the x-factor. He might be able to bother Shaq enough on D, but the key thing is having Kandi contribute some points I think, like he did this game.

Gary Payton and Sam Cassell will cancel each other out, cuz Payton has been sucking this playoffs, and now Cassell has a bad back. IMO, Fisher should be playing more minutes than GP, cuz he can shoot and defend better. After his .4 second shot, his confidence has probably skyrocketed... so expect him to push the Lakers over the top.

However, I disagree with you about Malone being able to contend with KG. Malone couldn't really stop Tim Duncan, and I think KG is better than TD, so Malone cant play him 1on1. The double teams, however, was what threw KG off today... so that will be key. Other players need to step up and hit shots. However, Malone is still dangerous cuz of his offense. With Malone and his passing, he makes the Lake show so much better.

Anyways... Pacers Pistons comin up... i still think it will be Pacers over Pistons... cuz Pistons have no true star. ben wallace?? pleeeeeeeease.....

Nice job De-Ken you really know your stuff. I have hardly ne one who really knows ball to talk to about all this.

First off I agree with ya on Artest being the only one who could guard Kobe. Bowen is better then Hassel, but at least the Wolves have a great defender to match up with Kobe. And come on man KG is the man, but at 7 foot hes a little to big to chase Kobe off those screens. KG doesn’t have the speed to match up with Kobe, but look to see him pop up on the help side and contest Kobes J’s.

Payton is past his prime, he never really got into the flow of the triangle offense. Payton isn’t like Malone he cant be a role player, he has been a leader for to long. Cassell may be slightly injured, but I still gotta give him the edge. This guy his coming off his first ever allstar year, and he wants this as bad as KG. He may not be as clutch as Fisher, but give him the ball down the stretch it could make all the difference in this series.

Come on man your talking about the last two years MVPs here, no one can ever hope to stop them, but hey 16 points and 10 boards is a hell of a lot better then 32 and 21. I may not like him, but I got mad respect for Malone I kinda want them to win now to see if he can contest ONeal. Duncan KG then Oneal? Old man has his work cut out. If the Lakers win how much fight will Malone have left he is 40!

Ohhh man don’t you dare knock Big Ben lol. Detroit is build on Defence and team play, just like the Pacers. This is gonna be a low scoring series. Ben matchs up pretty well against Oneal, and with Rasheed on the help side (and don’t forget Oneal is blind in one eye) this will be fun to watch. Artest will have to score more then ever since he doesn’t have a hard defensive assingment. (I think Rip would be to fast for Artest, no buddy comes off the mid screens like Rip)

But ill give my real thoughts after game one tonight..

^ summed up nicely...

as for why I say pacers over pistons... reggie miller... doesn't have to do anything except for the last few minutes of the game.

ben wallace is good... dont get me wrong. he keeps the pistons in the game, gives them a chance to win. but in terms of making 4th Q clutch performances, which is what playoff bball is all about... i dont see ben wallace hitting big shots down the line!

^ nah didnt see it...

although i dont see why reggie should be pissed off! when it comes to playing sports, everyone is doing the same thing anyway! its not as if reggie invented coming off screens!

i think the key for the pistons has to be chauncey and rip... they gotta make the big shots... which chauncey didnt do at the end!

it was a pretty low scoring game. I saw artest on hamilton alot, but with all those cuts and screens I saw Artest get lost a few times. I also saw Artest on Ben Wallace for awhile. What about Bens offense man he hit a few jumpers that surprised me.

Hes actualy out there looking to score now. I cant wait to see him come in next year. This guy works hard I wont be surprised to see him come in next year averaging like 15-17 a game

this will be a close series and your right the key for the pistons has to be the play of chauncey and rip, but they need another to step up the scoring cause they didnt really get it in game 1. Maybe Corliss off the bench or Okur. Look how Al came in for the Pacers and sparked a run, the pistons need that to be successful

And I was thinkin on the reggie thing. With all these great guys styles you can see people in the NBA right now that play the same. Kobe-Jordan, Reggie-Rip, Peja-Bird, and maybe Magic-Odom cept Odom isnt as good. Reggie said in the interview he should be getting royalties frm Rip...

most playoff games were on tv, but during the regualer season I only got to see popular teams like the Cavs and Lakers play. It pisses me off. i love Detroit and i didnt even see one of their regular season games.

anyways for the wolves in off to laker land where i expect them to splt home games. And over in Detroit I hope to see the pistons step it up and win both, but more likely they will split as well. As of now I see 2 games seven series here. It should be some great ball to watch

I have always been pretty tall (within azn standards) and thus through out my balling over the years i was alwasy 1 of the "tall guys" but i was never a driver until i decided to pick up the ball this year and play and now im loving the inside game. I always had no problems going in for off/def rebounds but in terms of offense i was always an outside guy but now its in and out. Needs improvment obviously cause i havn't really balled for real in like 4 years

another reason being for some odd reason my nickname on the courts now fmr my friends is TD (tim duncan) god knows why and being that my favorite player is KG i gotta do the inside game as well. Reggie is still one of my favorite players of all time though. And by the way this series between the lakers and wolves sucks ass so far all 3 games were sure winners. Not surprised though i do call this to be a lakers easy win series
