Michael Moore wins Palme D'Or at Cannes

^^^
A bit of both I would guess. Moore doesn't hide the fact that he's using Fahrenheit 911 as a blatant tool to turn American voters against Bush. Many of those who have seen the film are saying that the movie could effect serious repercussions on the Bush camp if it's released before the upcoming election. A~ |

Meh, Michael Moore hasn't really impressed me or opened my eyes since Roger & Me.
I don't get how bowling for coloumbine is so eye opening, wasn't it completely obvious that a large part of America has a love affair with the right to bear arms? But, I'll have to see this one, maybe my opinion will change. To me he just seems like McLefty, if you know what I mean- he's just some left winger that is easy to digest, and easy to remember. There are a lot more people doing a lot more groundbreaking works. (Sorry to disagree with you, Simon :p) |

Actually Myra, I totally agree with you!
But I think that it is extrordinarily important to have 'McLefties' out there making "easy to digest, and easy to remember" products. Most people want simplicity. But the the truth is rarely simple, which is why a lot of right wing rhetoric (which IS simple) appeals to people so readily. Micheal Moore is an important counter to that. Also, Moore's win here is important because Farenheit 9/11 was in danger of not being released in the US (at least this - the election - year) but with its win at Cannes, there is no way that they'll be able censor it. Plus, while the judges claimed there was no political motive in their choice (it was just the 'best movie...' honest!) I think it sends an important slap in Washington way. This in an important prize, and it is significant that it was awarded to a film with a message that was directly Anti-bush. Sorry, gotta cut this short- off to work! |

But don't the majority of Americans realize that Bush is a total fuckwit anyways? I'm not too sure the movie would help in pointing out the already painfully obvious.
and those who agree with Bush still would not even consider viewing Moore's film- he's just another liberal hippy, he may as welll be French! |

America has been invaded and blaming Bush isn't gonna change that, and so I am weary of Mr Moore. Now I haven't seen this vid yet, but from the reviews I've briefly heard it seems that the general rhetoric is that he is going to expose the Saleem Binladen and Jr Bush Arbruto, or rather, Arbusto business venture (and the connections those families have). Maybe raise a few eyebrows but I feel he will just chip at the surface of the iceburg without letting the viewer know of the mamoth size of this story that sits below the surface. You see, Moore is more interested in making you laugh than making you think, and that is why he is successful. This video will pail in comparison when we look for titles like:
ALEX JONES :: 9-11: The Road to Tyranny (sensationalized, and cheesy, but filled with well sourced info all the same) ... ERIC HUFSCHMIDS :: Painful Deceptions (Breaks down the scientific evidence on why 9-11 is an obvious scam, his book is very well sourced) ... ANTHONY J HILDER :: Illuminazi 9-11 (Packed with lots of info and propaganda, and is drastically over acted, lovely video) http://news.phaseiii.org/modules.php...free&cid=3#TOP If anyone wants to see any of these films PM me for a copy free of charge. |
