Lakers vs Pistons
yah... felt like starting a new thread again! might as well... since it will be one of the last bball threads for a while
hmmm.... i predicted Lakers in 6, but I have a very strange feeling that the Pistons might surprise me here. They aren't like the Nets, whose only strength was really the running game. The Pistons have a lot of weapons. Starting lineup is not bad, plus a decent bench too. |

should be very interesting.
i wouldn't mind seeing my boy payton get a ring, but i fuckin hate karl malone. that bastard. with wallace & wallace i think shaq won't be that big of a factor. the question for them is if kobe will heat up at the right times and steal games away. |

wallace and wallace will still do nothing to shaq. lakers in 5-6 max
Pistons is definatly a better opponent for the lakers as comapred to pacers or any other east team but lakers but will still prove no match for the west. Payton and malone will both get their rings the cheap way. pussys |

Pistons are known for their D... but they got nobody who can stop Shaq... Ben Wallace couldn't even stop the other Oneal with a bad knee.
and nobody can stop Kobe... Tayshaun Prince?? please! he was getting schooled by Richard Jefferson... but lets see if Lakers can play D... cuz I think the Piston's offence is better than expected... |

The pistons offense can be good but simply its not rite now. Besides Rip Ham and Ben Wallace who elese was really being consistant in the pacers series? I saw some of the uglyiest performances by Billups, Rasheed and a couple others. Way off the mark on lots of open looks etc.. The pistons do have good d bu theres way too much to be stopped.
My opinion, another hurting NBA finals |

now Karl has the right idea. Ok so lets see here, the pistons will start Ben on shaq and since Karl isn’t a factor on offense (his only shots are open free throw level and he’s ok at those at best) So sheed will be helping out alot. Plus NO team in this league rotates like the pistons (also no team is better coached) And with Elden and Okur they have 24 fouls to hack the big man if it comes to that. Ben may not be able to handle shaq one on one, but no team is better suited to guard the big fella.
Plus shaq is a fat slob and its been a long season, so im gonna say he’s a non factor, no monster games for him. Ok so shaq is semi contained what about the other big gun. Kobe is worn out and he will be even more worn out after guarding rip. The Lakers weakest link is their lack of a great perimeter defender outside of Kobe. Rip had 23 a game in the low scoring pacer series. The Lakers have to contain him the entire series to pull out another title. Did anyone see Mr. Defensive payer of the year in game 6? If the leagues best defender Artest cant guard Rip do you really think Kobe has a chance? Payton’s a non factor so I wont even get into him. Start fisher his speed and the way he stretches the D to prevent low doubles on shaq is invaluable. And Karl is past his prime, and going up against the physical play of the Wallace’s after battlin KG and TD will be to much for the old guy. So after all that im still going to have to say Lakers in 6 maybe 7 games most. The Lakers have to many weapons on offense while Pistons have 1. (still I have hope defense does win championships) But honestly..... Karl, Phil, Gary and Kobe are all gone this year. I kinda wanna see them win to kinda wrap up the Lakers dynasty. |

the only role player i'd worry about is fisher. NO ONE else on the lakers have any heart. payton/malone haven't been impressive this whole playoffs. not a whole game. maybe a quarter or two at the most.
if detroit shuts down fisher. this series is over. let shaq/kobe get 60 pts between them. |

ur right man, let kobe and shaq score 40 each a game and it still wont be enough to win if no one else steps it up. Prince embaressed kobe out there, 10-27 wow great job by prince. Shaq shot something like 80 percent. Hes good but dont expect that to happen next game. Im a little surprised at Malone, but not gary i expected this out of him.
first home lose in 10 games. I told ya this would be a good series. Im still holding to Lakers in 6-7 |

i dont know how u can route for the lakers if you are... they bought their team..
shaq even said it himself.. people are routing against them because they're the new york yankees of basketball.. ur fucking right big guy. I hope ben wallace smashes the ball right into the bad staple center, so then they can put out some money and fix it not like they dont have enuff money anyways.. so it's easy to cover... |

It seems like everyone in Canada loves the Mavs, cuz they got Steve Nash! Woohoo! (btw i hate the mavs!) if ur talking about a team that buys all their players, the mavs are it. they brought on jamison and walker... but their rookies (daniels and howard) were still better players! what about the magic? u can technically say that they bought their team too... cuz they lured Tmac and Grant Hill with millions and millions of dollars. And look at them now... worst team in the league. every good team in the NBA "bought" their team. very rarely do u see a team comprised mainly of their draft picks, who they've groomed to become elite players. one can even argue that Lakers have done this, a la Kobe Bryant. Other examples are the Spurs (Tim Duncan) and Wolves (KG). anyway... not saying that I love the lakers... but im still predicting that they are gonna be the champs in 6. |
