Today my friend David and I went on an adventure to Whyte’s Bay a cove of Comox Lake (Courtenay, Vancouver Island). It was a good four hour journey, but it was worth it. Here are the pictures:
I was walking and I almost stepped on this snake when David pointed it out.
We were walking along the old railroad when to the side I spotted this old beat up red truck. There’s a lot of old cars / trucks dumped in the forest and just discarded.
This is called Perseverance Creek. There’s not much to it, but it’s a good place to camp near and throw parties.
We finally reached Comox Lake. Here’s a huge panorama shot I took. I think it turned out pretty good. On the left side, across the water is where Comox Lake Campground is.
Here’s my adorable mutt having her yearly bath.
It’s a little hard to make out, but this is a cross made out of a piece of driftwood and old rusted metal. I’m not sure if someone’s pet died there or if it was for all the coal miners that died in this area.
Here’s one of the mine entrances blocked off by rocks. There were at least 15 active coal mines here a hundred years ago.
Here’s a dark shot of ‘Tree Island’. We used to swim to it in the summer and just eat pop and chips. There’s a tree, a stump and some rocks and sand. There’s not much to it.
I saw this weird flower. I don’t know what it is. Anyone here know?
Here’s a picture of yours truly heading home.
A lot of the area is wetlands / swamp with a lot of forest.
Finally here’s some bamboo. Hopefully you enjoyed the pictures.
Edit: Sorry for breaking the tables.
