i call it both.....it depends on how u use it i think.

supper is just for when u eat with family, or friends at home, etc.
dinner is used for when it sort of formalish.

uh.. to me it's two different meals.

i don't know if any other polaks are like me...

but we eat breakfast(Śniadanie) in the morning,
then dinner(Obiad) around noon (kinda like lunch) and then a second dinner around 6,
then supper(Kolacja) at about 9,

Pretty close... dinner actually comes from an Old French word disner, though, which means to dine (at breakfast). In fact dinner used to mean breakfast in Middle English, but generally meant the first big meal of the day.
