rooney is in the same shoes that michael owen was in when he emerged in the world cup.
as for the comment about no one hearing anything about him until now, that is just wrong. rooney is the youngest player to ever play for england in international play. hell he scored his first professional goal at the age of 16, against arsenal none the less, that goal also ended arsenal's 30 game unbeaten streak.
the kid has talent, a tremendous amount at that, he lead everton to the FA youth final just before he started his pro career.
he'll emerge as a superstar, he just needs to get his ass out of everton.
