I don't agree.....they're going to make an example out of him. Not that I think they should....there were just too many people watching that for it to just get shoved under the carpet. Just goes to prove the fact that you should think before you act.

Go Flames!

Remember Mcsorley?

Just cause Bert is a superstar doesn't work in the court room.

I just hope this thing doesn't get all of the sudden huge again like when the actual attack/hit happened.

think before you act? yea todd was the first guy in the history of hockey to get mad and punch someone.

i've said it before, you can sees his foot step on the stick and cause him to fall forward. i played hockey, when u step on a stick, you're lucky if you don't crack your tail bone

^ and besides you know in another year or two or whatever something like this will happen again, its just a part of the game that you can't avoid.

Before mcsorley there was granato getting clobbered and unconscious and also him doing it the other guy.

Its jusrt unfortunate they always blow it outta proportion when someone actually gets injured badlyq

What utter fucking bullshit.
All of the players know that when you lace up those skates and step on the ice you implicitly waive your right to any real-world legal protection - what goes on the ice is a matter for the players and the league. I mean really now...

I think the goalie in Slapshot phrased it best: "you go to da box, you know, for 2 minutes, by yourself, you know... you feel shame...then you get free."

Maybe we should just ban fighting and body checking from hockey!!!! That way it will be an even more marketable product for Americans to consume. Hopefully the new hockey league will be real hockey and not figure skating with sticks and a puck.

This is such bullsh-t. He shouldn't get jail time anyway... I mean, look at what Mcsorely did, sure he is gone from the NHL, but they must set a precedent with it.

i agree, not just with hockey, but with any sport. once you become a player in any professional league sport, they should not have to deal with the same legal system when it comes to scenario's like this bertuzzi moore one. professional atheletes are put under enormous pressure compared to everyone else in the world. Like the article said, 18 000 fans witnessed the punch from bertuzzi that lead the broken neck of steve moore. but i'm sure during the minutes before the incident, 18 000 fans were pissed off that their home town team were getting embarassed by our conference rivals. i was cheering when bertuzzi went for the punch....and from what i remember...everyone else was too at gm place until we found out poor little steve moore got his neck broke.

but media jumped the gun on the whole bertuzzi thing, and it got so much exposure around the world, hell even in japan they were showing it on the news around the clock, and hockey is about as little known over there as possible.

thing is i just think vancouver's justice system wants to be a prick, hell we did it mcsoreley why not bert. *sigh*

Well, I guess exposure is exposure... good or bad. I know a lot of people that actually started watching Hockey after hearing about the 'tuzzi incident.
