whenever i tried listneing to non techno all i heard was techno. And whenever someone asked me something, i'd ask what they said a couple times and if i didnt get it by then id just pretend i did. It sounds like everything is muffled. ITs pretty sweet lol

You lose.

These aren't ex-ravers. I've been to, I dunno... 3 or 4 raves this year... I'm still gonna laugh at all the idiot kiddie ravers.

They're just older. Doesn't mean they don't still rave.

It's not that we hate on anything rave. I love many things rave. I like candykids, I like techno, I like jungle, I like trance even though I think it's been rather benign lately....

I just think there are a lot of idiots out there. If I'm not going to laugh at them, what the hell use are they?

Hearing damage from headphones is probably more common than from loudspeakers, because many people exploit the acoustic isolation by listening at higher volumes. Moreover, the risk of hearing damage from headphones is higher than with loudspeakers, even at comparable volumes, due to the close coupling of the transducers to the ears. One of the benefits of headphone listening is the ability to detect musical details. Any hearing damage would have substantial impact on that experience. This article takes a look at the process of human hearing and offers guidelines for safe listening.

The harmful effects can be cumulative, so long-term exposure to short periods of loud noise can produce hearing loss years later.

I don't hate on everything "RAVE" (fuck I hate that word when it's used in that context); I'd liken it more to an overall hatred of stupidity. People without a clue piss me off more than anything else. Dead Mike you are up there on the list. I can't wait for the day technology advances enough that I can reach through my monitor and slap some sense into people like you and that other idiot that started this thread. RAVE THIS RAVE THAT, how bout SHUT THE FUCK UP INSTEAD?

There are three things I'm sure about in this thread....

1. Dead Mike is a fucking moron

2. eighty5 is just as dumb

3. both of you guys don't have a clue

In all honesty Dead Mike I've got more "RAVE" in my left testicle than you do in your whole body.

So in closing...

continue banging your head against the wall as you may finally knock some sense into that dense mass you call a brain.

You run the risk yes...

High frequency hearing deteriorates first. Think of what music would sound like if you couldn't hear anything above 10KHz: just like listening to the radio out of range, or listening to music over a telephone (no cymbals or high pitched instruments, voices sounding deadened).

If you have trouble understanding people when there is background noise, or understanding certain song lyrics, you could be experiencing hearing loss. In addition, if you find yourself straining to listen to women speak – this actually might be a hearing problem, not just tuning out.

I still have great hearing despite the many events i've done...however some damage will take years to show. I'm seriously thinking about investing into some custom plugs..they've come along way since these..

Check this out for some ideas if your serious about the issue..

With these you can lie on top of the speaker for the whole party :D

www.earinc.com - hi-fidelity plugs of all types, even including ones that glow in the dark and sparkle for all you candy ravers out there.

www.shure.com - company producing microphones and audio electronics, customized for hearing conservation.

I remember a chart I got in Capp in highschool about Ear damage, and how ya a walkman on level 6 for something hours can damage your ears even though it seems unlikely.
