First Bertuzzi, now Heatley Indicted.

this is becoming ridiculous. Yes he did crash the car, but don't you think its enough. Like he's suffered enough.

Vehicular Homicide. Homicide.

It's about time celebritys/sports figures had to abide by the commoners laws.

And they put Martha stewart in jail!

Come to think of it why isn't there a thread about that ?

Bertuzzi and heatly's cases are totally different - the Bertuzzi charge is just fucking silly because when players step onto the ice, they tacitly aknowledge that the games rules and penalties are all that they will be bound by. In heatly's case, he was recklessly driving a high performance sports car, late at night, in a situation that had nothing to do with hockey. Sure, he's suffering from the social and personal reprecussions of what he's done, but just because he feels bad and because he's a star does not mean that he is not bound by the same rules and laws as other citizens. Dangerous driving is stupid, and he deserves to be punished.

With Marthas case im glad she got jail time. Im sick of peopel with celebraty status getting no jail time. With that said as FF mentioned the bert case and Heatleys are totally different. As far as Heatley's case its far from ridiclous. He was being a dumb fuck and had a habit of driving like a moron and with that he killed somebody. I dont feel sorry for him at all and i hope he gets some jail time soon.

She's lucky its only 5 months in jail and the rest is conditional.

Look what her co-worker got for his part.

she should be getting more, but i am surprised that she actualy got jail time, i was expecting her to have a full conditional sentence

we can say the same thing about someone else not as famous at heatley.. like mike reid who died in coquitlam, and his friend who was recklessly under the influence.. do u think he should be accountable for crashing his car.. if so.. why shouldnt danny heatley? If you're willing to not drive reasonably on the road, then why shouldnt u suffer the consequences?

it's about fucking time that heatly is getting a taste of his own medicine. He should not have been playing hockey AT ALL after he tooled his ferrari and friend. If he gets done in for the whole 20 yards, justice has been served. :keebler:

as an opinionated person i believe that "paying for ones mistakes" is solely based on the situation, and as such in the bertuzzi case i believe he's paid enough (altho somewhat biased since i am a fan)......with heatly i think something a little more drastic is called for (which is happening now)

*on a side note.........we changed the cover of nhl 2004 from heatly to sakic after this incident

I guess, but Heatley wasn't under the influence but ya I guess that doesn't change the outcome....

i don't think its vehicular homicide though, that makes it sound like it was a planned thing.

i guess thats the part i don't believe in the most

When lord, when are we going to get the Bert/Nazzy cover!?!?!

(of course, with the bert rumours going around, the bert/nazzy combo may, sadly, be done for ever...)

Homicide means 'killing a man' - it doesn't necessarily denote murder.

just a few quick notes.

for the people cheering about marth stewart's prison sentance. you're idiots. if you really cared about people in general you'd want to see people like ken lay in jail. martha didn't hurt anyone but herself. being smug about martha is just immature and lame. ken lay put thousands of people's life savings into the crapper. but hey who cares right? way to go corporate responsibility america!

the thing that worries me in regards to bigbert's case is colorado has released steve moore. a person with a minimal chance to play hockey again, and someone who's not a big name star. this opens the door for a nice juicy civil suit against mr.bertuzzi. that is what worries me. but at least this all happened in canada, that's about the only thing that todd has going for him.

re: heatley, i was under the impression that 99% of these cases don't go to charges if the family forgives you. sounds like a case of a small town prosecutor lookin for a big fish to fry. heatley will be fine.
