Interested in taking Kung Fu?
I have read several posts on the site of people thinking on or interested in taking some form of martial arts. A really good friend of mine is also a WELL accomplished instructor... Here is some info for ya.
Ayron's Bio: Ayron Howey is a student of Master Liang Shou-Yu and a 2 time National Canadian Champion for Sanshou and Pan Am Gold Medalist. He has been studying Martial Arts for 22 years, since he was seven years old including Hsing Yi, Tai Chi, and Omei system. Ayron currently holds a 5th degree black belt in the International Wushu Sanshou Dao Association as well as a 7th degree black belt in the Canadian Confederation of Wushu Organizations. He currently teaches at the University of British Columbia, at the Shou-Yu Liang Wushu Institute, and his school Wuji Xiaoyao Kung Fu Academy. Arts trained in: Wushu, Xing Yi, Bagua, Sanshou, Iron Shirt Qi Gong, Da Pong Qi Gong, Judo, Ju Jitsu, Tae Kwon Do, Aikido, Thai Boxing, Hung Gar, and Boxing. my boi started doing kung fu about a year ago (he's doing a live in apprenticeship ata a kung fu school)
it's been a really positive thing for him...taking some focus off of drug-related activities, teaching him how to set goals and acheive them, and learning to approach life with a new angle. anyone interested should really look into it. i've seen nothing but good things! (and this guy sounds pretty accredited too) |

Grandmaster Shou-Yu Liang is one of the recipients of the Coach of Excellence title, given only to the most outstanding Chinese martial arts instructors by the People's Republic of china. Upon immigrating to Canada, Mr. Liang was selected as the First Canadian Wushu Coach. He formerly held the positions of Chairman of Wushu, Taiji, Qigong instruction at the UBC Physical Education and Recreation Department, Chairman of the International Wushu San Shou Dao Association, an International Wushu Judge, and the Chairman of the Canadian Wushu Selection Team. In 1995, Mr. Liang was named instructor of the Year by Inside Kung Fu Magazine. In 1994, Mr. Liang lead the North American Martial Arts Exhibition Team for a friendship performance tour to ten major cities in China. His team received a warm welcome by the people and government of China. While in China, the team also competed in the International Wushu Competition held in Shanghai. This competition was represented by 32 nations. Grandmaster Liang's team received 42 out of 56 gold medals awarded to the competitors. Canadian premier, Mr. Jean Chretien, also wrote a letter of encouragement to the team. Many Chinese television stations, radio stations, and newspapers spread the news of the Exhibition Team all over China. Beginning in 1985, most of the Canadian National Wushu team members were Grandmaster Liang's students. Mr. Liang lead the Canadian National Wushu team to compete in the 1985 World Wushu Invitational Competition held in China. The Canadian team took the Team Third Place. In the following year, Mr. Liang again lead the Canadian Wushu Team to he World Wushu Invitational Competition held in China. This time, the team captured the Team Second Place which was second only to China. The Canadian success story shocked the Chinese nation, and news of their outstanding accomplishment spread throughout China. Since 1985, most of the top ranked competitors in the U.S. National and International Competitions are or have been students of Grandmaster Liang. His students often received the top 3 places Wushu, Taijiquan, Xingyiquan, and Baguazhang competitions. Many of Mr. Liang's students in China, the United States, and Canada have become distinguished instructors and coaches themselves. Mr. Liang is well-known and respected internationally. He has been featured on numerous occasions on international television stations, including Chinese, American, Canadian, British, and Mexican. Mr. Liang has also been featured on the covers of many prestigious Chinese, American, and Canadian magazines. He has written five books on Chinese healing and martial arts. |

i am not sure i like all tis martial arts stuff
last time i saw a kung foo movie on tv i got a real urge 2 fly kick a garbage can now where's the zen in that i just think ppl should be calm and collected not jump around like monkeys in jammies |
