i think we will do better this year in the playoff's. playoff's are all about experience no one expects you to go into the playoff's and go right through all the rounds on your first try.
Look at the edmonton oilers it took them li ke 4 years to win the cup for the first time. canucks will get to the second round this time, of coarse depending on alot of things. |

too bad there is all that risk of a labor strike. If there was 100% no chance of a strike the canucks most likely would have signed Morrison to at least a 3 year contract. Along with probably 2 for Cloutier |

I'm pretty sure they're just giving the "core" of the team another chance to see if things work out. Head office doesn't see Cloutier being their number one goaltender after this final contract is up. There is a club option to keep him on for another season if they see fit... I don't see that happening. Even if he has another 30+ win season, it's his playoff record that really hurts his chance to stay in Vancouver. After Cloutier? I see Auld coming up to be number one. He's a much different goaltender than Cloutier. What he gives up in speed to Clouts, he makes up for it in his size and awesome positioning. He is still young enough to be "molded" in a way that fits the team. He is also a beter puck handler than Clouts, however, with the new rule changes, that wont matter. Which helps, in a good way because Auld will be able to focus on his positioning rather than worrying about getting the rush going with a dangerous cross ice pass. If he works on his rebound control, that will be just as effective as using the stick. We're going to see a very energized, exciting Nucks team, especially after all the controversy surrounding the club. Go Canucks Go! See yah at GM Place, everybody! |

It seemed that way, but you never know really what kind of contract they were gonna give him if there was absolutely no issue of strike going on.
Yea Auld will definetly be the canucks future netminder, maybe he will even be the backup this year oh? basically though yea Cloutier has been awesome in the regular season with an average save% of 9.05-9.10?? aroun dthere but in the playoff's not even over 900. his save percentage is 8.97 or so thats bad |
