Flailing and Other Raver Peculiarities
I've been raving probably around four years now. From day/party one, I was a flailer. Never really looked back. I remember just going nuts to the music (chemically-assisted or not), having a blast, and not really bothering with any other elements of the rave scene like people and chill-out rooms and the like. Party hard, go home early if I get tired out too quickly.
Don't get me wrong, I gathered a few raver friends, but I met most of them at pre- and after- parties. I've gained a few eccentricities as well; I usually bring orange juice, which works great for keeping me hydrated, energized, and relaxed. I've developed a style of flailing (which is perhaps an oxymoron, maybe it's more like certain flails I do more than others). However, almost every single time I come back from a party, I feel like a total dork. I get embarrassed about the fact that I usually just go nuts on the dancefloor (usually thinking I did so excessivly), yet meet very few people. Or, at best, I feel like an introspective introvert who has problems meeting new people (usually after an only-mdma night). So, I guess the point of this rant is this: 1. "Dancing like noone's watching"... Good or bad? 2. Should I feel like a dork? 3. Any suggestions for improvement? |

i think yes you should feel like a dork... but than i aslo say WHO CARES.... i mean you're at a party for freaks sakes... its not like you act like that in your everyday life...walking down the street... but if you wanna "improve" your dance skills than just throw on some music and dance infront of a mirror...seriously works, haha

meh, just dance like no ones watching... just ask yourself if you have a good time and enjoy the music, which by judging by the fact youve been doing it for 4 yrs the answer will be yes. And feeling like a dork cause you didnt meet lots of people... ahh well, so you arent a people person then.

so there you go, thread poster. this Jay guy is pretty much the idealogy of just given'r at a party. it's funny to see him go hardcore from opening to close. i haven't had the chance to meet him personally though....thought he was a nammer, but it sounds like he's a nice guy from what people are posting on here :)

The whole point of going to party's is to have a good time, socialize and do what you feel like doing. Thats the whole fun of partying is you get to go wild, and be how you want to be and not how you have to be during your jobs and everyday life. It's to let go, be free and have a good time. When I went to my first party IMF 2004, I was so nervous, watching everyone dance, and be free and have a good time, I didnt know what I was going to do since I dont dance and am very concious about myself, but I popped for the first time, and I felt like I fit right in, I Was dancin all nite, in ways I never thought I could. Then I met up with Dave, he showed me some moves, and I met up with some random other guys/girls dancin, and they showed me more stuff.
Now I don't care really, if you are standing off on the side laughing at me while I dance, I could really careless, im the one having fun, and your the one standing on the side with nothing better to do then laugh at ppl who have fun. I just let all my cares slip away, and have a good time, no matter if ppl are watching me or not. But at raves, I've never found ppl to crack jokes at ppl dancing, or make fun of a certain style of dancing, so thats good. Bottom line were all there to have fun, and if dancing your ass off is having fun for you, then do it, if doing drugs and wandering around blabbering on to yourself and friends is fun, then do it, if standing on the side pissed drunk laughing at how I dance is fun, then go ahead do it, because I dont care, and really you shouldnt either. As long as you are having fun, dont worry. |

at every single party i just fuckin dance like no one is watching...i always look forward to raves just cause u can do practically anything and no one gives a shit...why you feel like a dork in the morning i dont understand...i always feel awesome. to tell you the truth id rather die at a rave rather than anywhere else...basicallly meaning id die having the time of my life..that may sound really fucked up but thats how i feel.
