Real Madrid... The New York Rangers of Soccer?
Well it looks like Real Madrid signed another superstar today. They signed Michael Owen from Liverpool for about $24 million. Now this leaves me thinking are they gonna struggle through the season as they did last year or will Owen bolster their line up? Think about it with a team full of players such as Beckham, Ronaldo, Figo, Zidane, Raul, Samuel ( signed from AS Roma ), Roberto Carlos and now Owen, they should take a serious run at the Champions League as well as La Liga. If they fail to win any hardware it will be a sad sad day in soccer. What do u guys think? Will they be a super-powerhouse? Or just an overly expensive sports team ala New York Rangers?
Post ur thoughts. |

Can't compare Real Madrid to the Ranger. While you can but the rangers were a team of OLD SUPERSTARS. Sure some of the players of Real Madrid are older now li ke Zidane, but still they have proved before they can win it all. I.e the champions league's titles.
Real Madrid can compete where as the Rangers have come no where near even making the playoff's. I think Real Madrid is more along the lines of a say Philadelphia Flyers? |

disagree. Personally when i make that comparason im not really tlaking about the results of either team but rather the spending habbits. New York rangers are known to sign superstars left and rite spending money at will and so has Real Madrid. Philly isn't really seen as 1 of those teams although they are stacked. |

Rangers signed all veteran's way past their prime and in no way or form able to win an ything. When Real Madridm the powerhouse was put together they did well for a few years, rangers o nly had the glory of 94, since than nothing at all. No regular or post season success.... Philly is a stacked team but their players' are at least of age and still have years left in them as you saw in the 2004 playoff's. All the way to the Eastern Finals. and they still have at least 2 more years in each star. Real Madrid has a few years left in everyone too, thats my opinion any ways. Rangers basically have to dump and start young. Which m eans years of rebuilding. Madris just needs to stay healthy Make sense? |

if i was a big madrid fan, i'd prefered to have seen viera join that team.
as much money real spends, let's face facts, last year was an off year. where as the rangers have basically had an off decade. on that same note though, the underdogs can and still do win big tourneys in soccer. its' not like hockey, the underdogs get there, but they never win the big one. |

viera would of helped real alot more i think. hopefull they dont have an off-season. i mean really with a team like that, they shouldnt lose that many games.
anyone know that Zidane retired from the French national team. looks like i gotta get a new favourite european team. |
