Well, they're quick because of the torque, combined with the super light weight, the rear wheel drive, and the engine's in the back of the car, so it changes around the dynamics of the turning (especially with speed, and in the rain and snow). I remember a friend deaming it a 'death-mobile' or something, and he owned 2 mr2's both of which he totalled.

I'm not raggin on the car, because i want one very badly. It just looks so slick, and done up, sounds fucking HOT. but, you asked, so this is what i've heard.

Your right. They are DEFINETALY not made for driving in bad weather. When I was living in Victoria, I used to drive it to work everyday. I've fishtailed alot.
