kindly re-read my post and don't put words in my mouth. i'm not linking anything to anything. in fact, my own views on the matter earent even mentionned. i was trying to expand on this point brought up by akeel:

in fact, AS PREVIOUSLY POSTED, i personally feel this idea of behavioral sink usesless, it is an extremely narrowminded, shortsighted view of the problems with (northamerican) society that leaves many important elements out of the equation...thus skewing the results of the issue.
i'll keep my opinion on capitalism to myself until it is requested...but i can only hope that you don't seriously absolve western values (or lack thereof) of all resposibility.

yup. you're right. but keeping mind that a significant portion of the population on this continent is made up of immigrants, we still have to be aware that our society (both new members and long-time members) collectively make up something different than just the sum of it's parts. it's a difficult perspective because it involves us looking at our society with as much objectivity as possible, but i think it is important to step outside of the limitations of your own experiences when talking about something like this. we may come to some new realizations about ourselves in the process.
