USA Basketball

the USA basketball team just lost the semi-finals to argentina. The first time since the NBA they will not be in the finals. Has their performance gone down or has the rest of the world's performance gone up in the last years?

a) the other country actually properly prepare for the games. the build a actual team that plays well together and practise longer than the americans

b) the 3 point line is 3 feet shorter than it is in the nba. this fucks up the americans and there lackluster defence

c) the american players all mostly made up of cocky players that all feel theyare the best player of the team.

the days of the dream team are long gone. those players on ther real dream teamscould play important roles on the team even though they are superstars and do what it takes to win the game. i am very happy to see the americans lose. maybe it will start to change the way american kids are learning to play basketball. because the nba is garbage these days and is full, of cocky ballers who have no fundementals at all and just for the fact its awesome to see the americans lose at basketball

yea what jay dream said. a team like argentina for example has been together for 5 summers so they blend with each other well.

but u forgot the most important point is that the rest of the world has been catching up for some time and they finally have and then some. im so happy to see them lose too. damn straight they think their so crazy and all.

I think the world was pissed at the showboating the USA has often shown and decided not to sit back and swallow it anymore.

HAHAHAHAHA it's finaly happened the American's have been put in there place and as a huge Basketball fan I couldn't be happier this is the best thing to happen to the game since the three-point line this is great this is gonna lead to a rebirth for basketball all over the world as we know how to beat the americans by simply haveing a team not a bunch of players I hope that they lose in the bronze game too

the players of the 2004 dream team and their NBA playoff experience

carmelo = 1 series, lost
boozer = no playoffs
duncan = 2 championships
iverson = one finals appearance
lebron = no playoffs
jefferson = 2 finals appearances
marbury = 1 or 2 series, both lost
marion, odom, stoudemire, okafor, wade = pretty much zilch too

ok u get the point (or maybe u dont cuz u dont know pro sports). the team was a talented young group... but not made up of real winners. only duncan, iverson, and jefferson have experienced true playoff success. the rest of em dont know WHAT IT TAKES TO WIN. thats the difference. look at the rosters of the other dream teams... they were all made up of players who were not only all-stars, but knew what it took to win the whole thing. guys like jordan, magic, bird, drexler, stockton, malone, barkley... they knew what it took to win... the committment, the desire, the perseverance, the sweat.... all ingredients of a true champion. this year's team was not made up of true champions... it was made up of players with skill and talent, but that doesn't mean u know how to win.... at least not yet. i bet if this same team is kept for 2008 however, they will win. 4 years will make them hungrier and more experienced... oh well. looks like its usa vs lithuania in the bronze medal game... and lithuania has already beaten them before.

world championships in 2002... the USA team finished 6th overall. again... they got beat by argentina, and it went all downhill from there.

again... the team was made up of guys who didn't know how to win... didn't know what it took to be champions. u had guys like baron davis, paul pierce, shawn marion, ben wallace, antonio davis, elton brand.... all of em were all-stars... but they never experienced any true playoff success.... so once again... failure.

thats why its so important that shaq, kobe, j-kidd, garnett... they gotta go to the olympics... cuz they are true winners... they got the mad desire to win.

mark my words though.... in 2008, usa will come back with a vengeance. they will get sick of this shit... all these international failures. they will put together THE RIGHT team... the one that will get the job done and win the gold. they will learn from this debacle...

It was the world champioships and what has finally happened is the dream team concept at the olympics has finaly blown up in there faces as they became so complacent they thought they could send just anyone and they'd win i thought they figured that at out at the worlds but apperently not and they is going to be hell to pay to the american people

I think this is the begining of a long tough road for the americans at the olympics cause now all the countries are gonna put together teams that are gonna compete year round and get supplmented by NBA talent at appropreate times the americans will still have better players but not better teams just look at the NBA finals this year Lakers = Better PLAYERS, Pistons = Better TEAM lets be honest can you really compare Shaq to Ben wallace or Chauncey to The Glove no you can't the diferance was not in the players but in the team long live team basketball

Just like in any sport you can beat any team. no matter how great the individuals stars are on the opposing team, if you can keep your team members all on the same page.

besides the thing i don't like about basketball at the olympics till this year has been that not all the team are real even, big differencials. Where as hockey in the olympics is great now cause European teams have closed the gap so much. Its a level playing field.

Which makes for exciting hockey. Look at all the good teams. All the teams in the World Cup have killer teams cept for Germany.

basketball the gap is too big but at least with this hopefully it closes a little more. I'm glad america lost. they need it not for basketball for their own selves
