meeting famous people

every year when i go to the pne.
i always go to hunky bills for dinner/lunch.
and get the same thing.
every year i can remember.

at first i went there with my grandpa because he is ukranian (which makes me 1/4, and which gives me my rediculous last name). then he stopped going to the pne as he got older and i went with my dad.

my grandpa has passed and im no longer at home so when i went today i went by myself.

and i met THE hunky bill.

when he was serving me i could bearly hand over my money, he was nice and made conversation and i was blown away.

it was kind of like meeting santa claus.

i visited my sister at her game booth and she let me play for free. i won a pink jelly bracelet. it was awesome. fun times.

my middle name is nerdo and my last name is snorlax.

I ran into Sum41 earlier this week, I hadn't seen the little punk bassist since I made him clean the bar with a dirty rag at the club I work at. It was great watching his overhyped ass choke back tears as the bouncers tossed him out on his ass afterwards while he screamed "DON'T YOU KNOW WHO I AM!!!".

anyways back to my thing.

it's kind of sad that one or two dinners at the pne are all i rock of my ukranian roots. i make mean perogies at home but it isn't the same.

my grandpa used to say that the men in our family looked great in suspenders and can cook. this is what made us ukranian in our hearts.

Born in the "true" North end of Winnipeg on Euclid Avenue in Point Douglas on May 15th
l931, Hunky Bill attended Norquay, Aberdeen and St. John's Schools. He worked at the
C.P. Telegraphs till l956 before migrating to Chicago, where he lived for two years.

Working as a freelance sports reporter, Bill met and interviewed many sports celebrities

Billy and Clay to Vancouver to join the CJOR team.

In l967 the radio station CFUN made him General Sales Manager and he stayed there until l971. While at CFUN he was also importing Ukrainian food from Winnipeg. While enjoying himself one day at the Ritz Hotel, a friend bet him ten dollars that he couldn't get a booth at the Pacific National Exhibition (Vancouver's big annual fair.). Bill went down to the PNE and pleaded and argued for an hour and finally he was given a booth. He won his ten-dollar bet and the rest is history. Another important happening was a third son Mark being born in May of l967.

There used to be an amazing Ukranian restaurant on the Drive called Olde Europa, but its been shut down for a few years now, hands down some of the best Ukranian food I've ever had.

I can attest to rawb making really good perogies, don't even get me started on how he can carmelize the shit out of any onions.

Anyways, I read a really good interview with Hunky Bill once in the paper, he looked sooo cute, I've always wanted to give him a hug. I bet he hugs with two arms!
