Get your Geek out.. good ISP?

Hi, im in the process of trying to choose a good isp for cable intermernet and im having difficulty finding a good comparison... in aussieland we have a website called wirlpool wich compares/bitches/discusses all the internet service providers and their respective faults/benifits..

does anyone know of a simmilar site for vancouvor/bc/.ca?

a friend of mine says it will probably better to get a tv/internet deal.. what you think?? whos has the worst/best rep?

sooo sick of crappy AOL dialup eh.

:)

you have cable with shaw
or you have adsl with telus

they're both okay, your experience varies greatly on location. ask your neighbours what they have and if they like it and that will be the best for you.

When I had Telus I had excellent service and real constant high download speeds, never had a problem with them. ADSL is good, you can move your computer all around your house to wherever there's a phone jack. (Usually more of them than Cable outlets anyways)

I have used both Telus and Shaw and I would have to say that they are pretty much about the same. Depending on your area, you may not even be able to get ADSL. Also you may run into problems with shaw during peak hours (although they have done a pretty good job as of late fixing this). Like Rawb said you experience will vary with location.

ADSL: Speed was pretty good, never bothered me about excessive bandwidth usage but you need a phone number in order to get it. If you don't use a landline much then that is an extra $30/month you have to account for.

Cable: Just got it installed today so I can't comment except I hope they don't nail my ass for bandwidth violations.
