Just to be clear:
Taurine is not a controlled substance. Selling a product that contains taurine is in violation of Canadian food and drug laws - you can't sell any food or drug product without Canadian FDA approval. You can certainly buy products with taurine in them off the internet and ship them up here, with zero hassles. Same thing with caffeine - as I understand it, in order for a product containing caffeine to pass the FDA inspection, caffeine must exist naturally in one or more of the ingredients - f'rinstance, the cola nut contains caffeine, and that's what is used to flavour cola beverages. Since caffeine is already in the beverage, it's ok to add more caffeine - in the case of Mountain Dew, none of the ingredients have naturally occurring caffeine. |

i just came back from the states and bought a bunch of red bull down there it's pretty expensive like $6.99american for 4 cans... anyways we got checked at the boarder coming back into canada and they saw the red bull and didn't say anything...if taurine is illegal down here wouldn't they not let us bring it back into the country ?

Hmm..
The fact of the matter is that Taurine is a powerful substance derived from Bull urine, hense Red Bull. It is illegal in Canada and is not contained in the 7-11 Red Bull that is being shelved in Canada. Real Red Bull is made in Thailand and Austria and contains Taurine. I really hate Canadian law, Taurine rules, its a legal high and is good for your body, now all these candy ravers think that they are getting the real deal, when in fact they are gettin jacked. Hmmm..I don't feel high, but I spent $3.25 so I must be really tolerant to drugs, bahhh..Jacked big time by large corporations. Just look at how they try and cashin with Rave chips and REV drinks and 24/7 XTC drinks, bunch a hoopla.
This is so funny, I went to a chinese store and they were clearing out Real redbull for $.99 to shelve the bullshit Red Bull for $2.99. Of course I bought a half dozen on the gold cans. Taurine tastes metalic, kinda how you would imagine zinc would taste, it rules and unless clearly stated on the bottle, your not getting any. Peace |

Once again, kids, taurine is NOT A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE! Selling a product that contains taurine is against the law. Having and drinking it is totally ok - you can order drinks online, or bring them across the border with no problem, so long as they're for you to drink, and not for you to sell. |

Note that it is classified as a "supplement" and not a "beverage". The FDA does make a distinction - you can't buy beverages with creatine in them at the 7-11 either. |

the can of the stuff you can buy in canada and the can of the stuff you can buy in the states taste different... i just noticed that the canadian cans existed like half a week ago so i'm not sure whats the actual difference yet.. but they dont taste the same
if you read the ingredients on the back of the can you will see that TAURINE IS INCLUDED... so is B12 which cheebus420 seems to think is illigal in canada.. yet that was in the bottles as well |
