LOL a dell.....thats funny...

anyways, AMD K6's motherboards are really good, the Durons are not very reliable and cause windows unstability quite a lot.
with 2500 bucks you could get quite a bit of RAM (the memory) and nowadays its still quite cheap, I'd say 512 mb memory stick and at lesast a gb processor, that should bring up about up to 1000. after that um...sound cards are about the same no matter who you get em from, video cards - some top of the line ones are Stealth and VOODOO, perhaps SIS too. that'll make the graphics when ur playin games compeltly kickass.
odviously you'll need a network card and a fairly big hard drive about 60-80 gb.....yeah........

i just need to kow how much memory i should need and just the basic things i should be looking for. I don't want to buy one and totally be taken advantage of.

Then let me tell you what to buy?

http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pro...1&WLBS=fsweb22

After taxes, extended warranty, ect.. you will cap out just under $2400

I personally have this exact notebook sitting behind me on my bed, brand new. It's sick, just what you need. Get down to Futureshop and pick it up.

The toshiba's are great laptops, but I would suggest getting something with pentium M/Centrino processor as opposed to the P4, you'll be able to use it for extended hours without having to recharge the battery.

Very true, I have to charge it up every few hours of non-steady use. But don't scare the girl, it charges back up quickly in under 15mins.

im not sure if your set on a laptop but for 2500$ you could build ur own comp or for probly a 12hour tech fee have a pro build it for you. And it would be off the hook.
