I heard about it from many people long before I ever set foot in here.
Backintheday (let's say late 2000 early 2001) there were three Vancouver message forums for ravers: LoungeX, FNK and XTCity. XTCity was home to the n00bs of the time. All the little candy ravers and plurtards that were happy just posting about how wonderful their navels were.
FNK was home to the junglists and the bitter jaded crowd who hated the candyravers and would be quick to dispell them as n00bs.
LX was populated by the elitists. Those that called themselves "Real Ravers" and had been paying attention for a good 3 years or so.
They had similar parallels to the early internet wars of IRC vs. MUDs vs. ADVENT. People who were happy in their little niche. I posted on XTCity and LX myself. LX to talk with more elitists. XTCity to have people to be elitist to.
XTCity died, LX died, ED came out, went to ED and spent some time talking to a few LXers on Clubvibes. After ED died, I moved to FNK, as most of the EDers seemed to head that way.
Today, FNK is berry berry different than it was oh so many moons ago, and I see a pretty decent mix of old fnkers, LXers, and XTCityers. As well as a bunch of n00bs, and I'm certain there's still some stragglers from NWT.
Elitists and Candyravers seem to be coexisting well these days. Or maybe we've all grown up and realized how inter-scene politicking is pretty stupid. Or something like that. But I personally like the way the scene has evolved. At least that's my take on it.
What the fuck were we talking about again?
