When is enough, enough?
Raving, A lifestyle or a form of entertainment?
Is raving something that you do that is important, regardless of friends and family? Is it something that you spend your entire week spent at home (with family) preparing, primping and obsessing about? It it so important that its worth losing friendships, grades, and even your health over? Is it worth making drastic changes to yourself and life, in order to become "elite" in the scene? Is popping caps really necessary 4-8 times a month? Or is it something that you mearly "do". A form of entertainment, a night out with friends to let loose and have fun. Sort of like a night at the bar, a dinner with friends. Something that you wouldnt put before school, family, friends. Something that comes last in your list of priorities. A friend of mine has taken raving the the extreme. This lifestyle has become so important that its taken over their life. A beautiful person turned ugly over a short period of time. Family and friends slowly slip away and are easily forgotten. Yet, harder they party. Another raver friend was lost do to exsessive amounts of crystal meth and E. She will never graduate from highschool, never get married, never have kids, never see life the same. As she will spend the rest of her youth in a psych ward. Some feed back would be nice as I am tired of my concern being twisted into an attack. Thanks =) |

The first person mentioned, the raving itself has made this person who they are now. |

I'm always sober, but its more of a fun thing to do on a saturday night. Like going to the movies or chilling with some friends. Your first friend, whos family and friends slip away, i would say let them be. Perhaps this is the choice they make for themselves although i might sit them down one day and voice your concerns. I'm sorry to hear of your other friend who is in the psych ward. It is really a sad story.

Drugs are a means of self-expression, a way to reach a new level of consciousness, or experience something new. Drugs can also be abused. My views are this -- it's impossible to get addicted to drugs. It is up to the user to have the mental strength and capibilities to control themself of what they do, because everyone is born of these capibilities. If one can't, they will become "addicted", and probably regret it for the rest of their lives.
It wasn't the drugs who put herself in the hospital. It was herself. Going to raves doesn't mean that you have to do drugs, it was her choice to decide to pop some beans, or do some meth. She had the control, and i think everyone has that choice. |

Everyone has their own opinions on drugs. I've done them. I'll probably do them again. This thread has little to do with drugs, its more about the actual raving. Its fun, we all enjoy it. My question is, is it your life? Should it be taken that seriously?

While you're partly right about the mental side of it, the sad truth is, your body can become physically dependant on drugs. Crytal Meth, Heroin, Crack and coke all have horrible withdrawl symptoms after long term use. You ever see a crack or heroin addict get 'the sickness'; puking, shakes, thinking they're gonna die unless they use? Speed too, albiet working on different parts of your system. Your body can become phsyically dependant on alchohol too. Someone who drinks copiously regularly will get the bends and shakes if denied their drink. It's not an excuse for getting addicted or continueing self bodily harm, it takes just as strong a mind to admit one has a problem as never getting hooked in the first place. Back to the question at hand though. Is it the party she's addicted to, the drugs, or both? |

hmmm..
Partying is entertainment..not life. Its sad to see good friends become people you cant stand. Its even worse when those friends make comments like "You and me..were almost equal..blah..blah" It's even sadder when you care so much about someone and they just dont give a fuck about anyone but themselves..and they dont even realize it. *shrug* |
