I know it's natural, BUT I HATE IT (style changes when rekkid collecting)
I've been collecting breaks for over a year now. buying my shit REALLY slowly because i don't got a lot of flow to be buying as many as i'd like to. But, my taste in breaks has changed so much since i started that i think i wanna collect Trance now. I dunno why...
If i change over, wtf am i supposed to do with my breaks rekkids? Do i gotta spend another year trying to half fill my bag with trance? I dunno, i love how breaks just makes you wanna get up and jump around, but i LOVE how trance makes you sorta zone out & listen. I don't own a single trance record at thie point either!... damnit. It's inevitable isn't it. HARP, KAM, I SHOULD HAVE LISTENED TO YOU FOOLS. I'M THE FOOL NOW!! has anyone else gone through a similar dilemma? changed from breaks to trance? or vice versa? |

I have just over 300 records now. Been collecting for almost 2 years.
I started off buying Psytrance... then Psytekk. Those 2 mix together though. Then I started buying UK Hard House & Nu-NRG. Then I switched again and started buying Happy Hardcore & UK Hardcore. I also have the odd Breaks, Trance, Hip-Hop and all kinds of other shit in there somewhere. I'm also considering switching to Gabber since no one in BC spins that. I still play every genre I own. It's fun to go back to your old records. |

i did that too
i started off wanting to be a house dj originally, but then i fell into dnb and a little side order of breaks.. i spent a whole whack of money on house. However i have no shame in selling my house records now, as it's been over 2 years since i played them and they suck! (bottom line) but like dabbler said.. don't sell your breaks until you are sure that you wanna spin trance, and please think REAL HARD before you make your decision you really don't wanna end up making the wrong decision ;) ~Mike p.s. trance sucks, BREAKS RULE! |

thank you sir, may i have another?
first of all, have you ever stopped and thought for a second that maybe the way i layed it out could quite possibly be for advertising i know how to put a sentance together it's all about catching the eye and grabbing your attention.. so far it seems to clearly be working! ~Mike |

I've been collecting for over 8 years and I still have a large amount of my top40 and r&b records from when i first started djing. It's your choice if you want to sell or keep your breaks, but remember.... You will get more bookings, interest, and skill by being more diverse with your mixing. Try mixing some of your breaks with trance and house and you'll really know what it means to play a progessive style. Most importantly you may find that it sounds nifty and that you can then play to a wider audience. best of luck with it |
