how good?
On Friday night there was a homeless guy begging for change outside of the liquor store near my house - I went in and bought my booze, and asked him if he wanted money for food. He said yes, he wanted to buy a loaf of bread and a couple of cans of beans, so I took him to the IGA, bought him 2 cans of beans, a big loaf of bread and some sandwich meat, and asked him why he was begging. He said that it was 'cause he broke his hand (he had a cast on) and his boss fired him 'cause he couldn't do his job. His landlord kicked him out 'cause he couldn't pay his rent, and since he didn't have a set address, EI wouldn't let him collect sick leave. Poor guy. Definitely not the typical alcoholic/addict homeless guy...I definitely felt sorry for him =\ I told him about the Hostel at Jericho and that it's really cheap to stay there if he couldn't keep bouncing to and from his different friends places.
I hope he's not there next time I go to the liquor store, in the sense that that hopefully means things are looking up for him. But if he's there, best believe he'll get another loaf of bread, some more beans, and some more sandwich meat.
