I had lunch at the Wack airport last week. Lots of helicopter activity.
Once I had cofee there with someone from White Rock who flew in his Vari-Eze. When he wanted to take off I held down the nose of his plane while he pushed the tail prop to get it started, and someone else cut back the throttle in case it started too fast. Took him 7 years to build this plane and it's a beauty. If he was flying at the peak of Mount Baker & his engine stopped, he could glide back to Vancouver airport. |

Yes that's the one. I once went to the Sunday morning fly-in breakfast at Delta AirPark and that pilot gave me a nice tour. The artist Toni Onley was there (he crashed his floatplane in the Fraser last spring). Lots of interesting people, and their planes.

Oh yah, I was working at Boundary Bay still when that happened. The Aviation Community in the Lower Mainland is pretty close knit. I'm friends with a couple of the Guys that crashed in a Cessna 172 (C-GDPD) they survived... quite the interesting stories they had. I also know the Guy that owns the Red Harvard (the Red Knight) that you see at the Abbotsford Airshow every year.
