^it's supposed to reach par value over the next few months... but don't mistake this for a positive thing, as the Republicans drag the US economy down the toilet, Canada won't be far behind....

i hate to break it to you son, but having a high dollar value in relation to the americans is shitty for our economy. importing goods from canada just became more expensive for the americans. this means that one of two things will go down, americans will either look to other countries with cheaper goods or a lower dollar value -OR- they will just simply purchase fewer canadian goods since they can't afford as much anymore. while i'm no economist, i'm sure that if you watch the prime interest rate in canada, you'll see the bank of canada will soon take action to readjust our own dollar in relation to the americans.

a high dollar value can be good for awhile, but if it goes too high for too long it's detremental to our economy. just look at the economic hardships experienced by canada when the us market faltered in the 80's as an example.

try comparing the canadian dollar with the euro...

sure when the US $ drops its value ours looks better compared to it...
but vs the euro... not much change...

this just meens our dollar still sucks...
and exports will decrease to the us...
imports will increase...

our economy will go down the drain.

au contraire folks, initially canada may start to feel the pinch as our largest trade partner's economy begins to falter, but the reason for the loony's steady increase is that there's a HUGE amount of forgein investement coming into the country because our economy is strong. Our trade deficit is miniscule compared to the states. The US economy is being artificially propped up by investors from markets that export heavily to the States (a chief example of which is China with over $515 billion invested into the US (that's just the GOVERNMENT, not individual investors) The US dollar is starting to fall even quicker because China has made noise about selling off most of it's US currency in search of stabler waters (IE Canada).

The fact that pot legislation is just around the corner will keep Americans coming up to Canada. The tourism industry is gonna boom within the next 5 years because of pot legalization not just Americans will flock here... the whole world will.

Think about it.
