Shitty Fucking Health Care
I’ve heard about it and read about our shitty health care system for years now but had never had it effect me personally till now……………..AND IT’S FUCKING GARBAGE
On Friday I went to the BC Labs to get a routine blood test for cholesterol. I went and grabbed some food afterwards and by the time I was on the way home they had called me back to tell me to go straight to the emergency room because my red blood cell count was dangerously high. The lab had called Surrey memorial hospital to let them know what the case was so I assumed that I would get immediate treatment. I was wrong; I spent 8 hours waiting to be seen by a doctor. When I finally was examined by the doctor he tells me that I should be admitted because my blood was thickening and it could clot but since there was no beds and there was no on call haematologist that he was just going to give me blood thinners and get me to see my family doctor on Monday. I go into see my family doctor today and she is appalled at the fact that the emergency doctor had looked at my blood work and released me without doing any further tests. So she got on the phone trying to get me admitted to VGH, Saint Pauls and Surrey Memorial all of which denied me because there are no available beds. They said I must be seen by a haematologist first and have him give the ok to be admitted for further testing. Sounds easy enough?? Not so easy, apparently there are only a handful of these doctors in the lower mainland so I have to wait longer for treatment. I’ve come to the conclusion that in order to get medical attention in this province you have to be bleeding all over the floor or something. Money~ |

I was sent to the emergency room in Mission last year with a broken back and leg, I waited in the ER for 5 days before a bed opened up.
There was only 30 open beds in the hospital. And 27 staff... It was a 2 floor hospital, and one of those floors were closed. YAY FOR CAMPBELL CUTBACKS. Let's give more to the people in prison. |

while we'd all like to point the finger at Campbell for this mess (and believe me, I hate him 5 times more than you guys do, he ROYALLY fucked up my Computer Science Degree) The system that's in place flat out CAN'T support the load that the population is putting on it, the wages for the employees is already below the national avg which is FAR below the wages to the south in the states. The Medicare system is falling apart, how we put it back together is what really matters now.

I almost gave up as we waited for the clinics to start opening. Not all, but in a way I kind of get the feeling they prefer giving you the shitty service. Hence make you so full of anger and frustration to compain and demand better for our health care!?! Most of the "Emergancy beds" are full of seniors if you havnt noticed. Becuase all the over night sergery wards etc are already too full for them stayign int eh emergancy for days/weeks. Its the whole chain effect. Bottom line were Canadian not american... BE CARFUL WHO YOU VOTE FOR IN THE NEXT PROVICHIAL ELECTION PLEASE!!! |

Crazy shit people. When I was stabbed in the arm, I went to the hospital and they wouldn't see me so after 1 hour of waiting they called someone in and I followed them and I saw a doctor a few minutes later. Who perscribed me pills that gave me an allergic reaction 2 days later and again I ended up in the hospital. This time I got there in an ambulance and the doctor said take Allegra for the allergic reaction and stop taking the medicine and see your family doctor the next day. I was like wtf and got out of the hospital so pissed of, now I need a x-ray for my arm cause my family doctor said a bone is fractured.
Stupid, stupid health care system, it totally sucks. |

don't do drugs or start fights, over eat, go out in the cold, miss your work, stay in school, drink milk, don't watch too much tv, do your homework, eat more vegetables, drink lots of fluids, do onto other as they do ONTO YOU!!!!
and you'll be fine. |

see the problem with public health care, is that they expect the general populous to have some small amount of common sense, when the general populous is like a huge herd of stupid monkies that have all ingested the fruit from the stupid tree which, ironicly, makes them stupid and then up up getting all busted up and asking for patches when they don't need them and eat bananas in the waiting rooms and flinging feces and the doctors. It really is a terrible situation.

the system does suck, and i feel awful for the doctors\nurses\healthcare workers that get all the blame. the emergency at eagleridge was ready to kill my dad by saying "he just cant handle the pain of his surgery" anu pumping him full of morphine - yeah well a week later in icu and a life saving surgery proved them wrong. (royal columbian also sent him home with ecoli bacteria in his wound, they called us that night) im very bitter about this and other things within the system, but i cant knock it too much. i like that i can still afford my medication, that when i need a flu shot due to situations at home i can get one, if i injure myself severly i know i will be helped, and not charged rediculous amounts of money.
mostly i dont go to the emergency room, i wait to go to a clinic. ive only been for a stupid reason once, and its because i needed antibiotics that night. i remember a couple of years back my doctor gave me a recommendation to see a bone specailist at royal columbian, called ahead, and we were told to go to the emergency. the specailist sent down a student, who turned me away. all he did was look at my arm, bend it, and said youll be ok. (ps i still cant put pressure on my elbow joint at all) i think most everyone has a bad medical experience. its awful and terrible and like myra said, complain to you mla's. again though all this being said, i still enjoy alot of factors about our medical system. |
