You're going to end up paying more if you buy from the states. It's a harsh fact, but Customs will tack on anywhere from 5%-40% in duty fees.
When I bought an old Akai sampler *used* from the States for $1200 USD, Customs added on $350 in duties and customs fees, and the FedEx guy wouldn't let me have the parcel until I paid it. The fees are usually higher for new items. Moral? Don't buy anything online from the states if you can get it in Canada. It may look like you're saving money, but you'll likely end up paying more. |

you would be looking at like $1100CDN plus shipping, and 1 table weighs approx 30-35 pounds each, so your looking at like 90lbs in shipping on top of that. So if do you save money it will be like 200-300 at the most.

what you want to try and do is find the lowest price you can from the states so that even with the extra custom charges it still ends up cheaper than buying it locally |

You can sometimes save big on shipping if you buy stuff online by having your stuff sent to this place, essentially you are pretending to be in USA when you order something and it can speed things up a lot.
Ship Happens 603 Cherry St. Sumas WA 98295 phone 360-988-8100 (just south of Abbotsford/USA border crossing) S.H. charges $3 per package. If you use a credit card to buy stuff, you will probably have to call the card company to add the Sumas address to your profile for authentication purposes. I've used them a few times and no problems. Found out about them from a friend who buys lots of camera stuff. When you order something you just monitor the UPS etc website and they tell you when your stuff is delivered, then you go to S.H., get your stuff, and pay the duty / taxes at Cdn border. BTW items made in certain places like Ireland, there is no duty, just GST/PST - example Sennheiser headphones. Try shopping.yahoo.com as a starting point for finding low prices on things. shipping to an US address is definately the way to go.
there are many depots just across the border in blaine where you can pick up from. when u bring it across the border, be honest and show canada customs your invoices. you'll get charged gst and pst just as if had bought locally. |
