AG has a produt alled Stucco which gives the effect of dreadlocks but an be easily washed out, smells good, and is good for your hair. Not the real thing, I know, but unless your praising Jah on a regular basis I don't think anybody's really going to care . .

i used to have dirty short dreads. you're not gonna get dreads in a matter of a day though. it takes a long time...
back-comb your hair to knot it as much as possible...back-comb, twist...back-comb...twist. it'll probably take a month or two to actually knot fully. and for the first several weeks, you shouldn't get your hair wet (ie. when you go for a shower, wear a shower cap). it gets kind of nasty and bunk after the 2nd week...so have a hat handy. and after the initial few weeks, you can start getting them wet but when you go to dry them, towel try them individually. good luck. |

dreads?!? niiiice! :119: i think they look awesome, but they're sooooo much work at first... especially if you don't have naturally curly hair!!! I attempted to have dreads a few years back but they didn't exactly work... kept falling apart cause my hair was too short and they we didn't backcomb enough when they were born. but i miss my dreads!!! (even if they did, apparently, make me look like a homeless person!)
hmmmm... as twiggy said, make sure you backcomb a lot, or else they won't work properly... also, knotty boy makes dread wax and shampoo that helps dreads stay clean and bugless (and smells really nice too). oh, and make sure the people that are making your dreads know what they are doing!!! good luck! |

the locks have arrived...
Yah, it took us a good 8 hours and me drinking a fair anount of Absolut (to dull the painb of three people violently yanking my hair and scalp for most of the day...) to finish dreading my ridiculous amount of hair into 33 chunky bunches!
And hey, frogprincess! Dreads do not equal bugs!! thats is the most common misconception (tho some people have dirty nasty dreads cause they just didn't ever wash their hair). If you take care of them and do them right, they are clean, bug free, and you can wash them whenever you want. Yah, i used that Knotty boy dread wax and its done quite a good job, i'd say. I'm pretty happy with them , even tho it's shortened my hair to dreads just below my shoulders. Thx for the opinions (tho I think even white people can look cool with dreads). Once i get the pics developed, I'll see if i can post a couple before and after shots, I look, more or less like an octopus landed on my head. :073: |
