My motivation tree
There is this huge sad looking tree with half its branches chopped off right near my house.
One night I was walking home when I spotted the tree. At this point I decided every time I see this tree I will remember my goal. So when I see it I either smile because I am reminded why I put myself through these challeges or I grimace due to the realization of how much damn work its gonna take to get to my goal. Whats your self motivational technique? |

I'm starting to put things on my wall. I have a few reminders, the biggest one is a quote.
it says "Knowing is not enough, we must apply. Willing is not enough, we must do." Everytime I look at it, it gives me motivation to do anything in life. |

I think what gets me out of bed in the morning and gets me to working 10-12 hour days (sometimes w/o breaks eep!) is the fact that I come from a long line of workaholics, and I probably just don't know any better :p (my father worked his ass off, not taking breaks or holidays and he was able to retire from working in his forties.) Accomplishment, even if it's just dragging my tired ass out of bed at 5:30am makes me feel fucking great. If I look at my monthly numbers from work and they've even gotten better by 3%, that feels good. I'm also totally keen on making people around me proud, it's an extra bonus if it's a family member.
I think what motivates me to do things I'm apprehensive about or even afraid of is the fact that someone once pointed out to me that I can face new/scary/unfamiliar situations with this sense of bravery that etiher me, or the people around me didn't even know I had. Add into the mix that I'm stubborn and perseverant as hell....haha ...who was it that said 'there is no try, only do' (something like that?) I like that quote a lot. M |

smoking as much as I do, it's sometimes an uphill battle to motivate myself. my goal is (as all are?) constructed out of hundreds/thousands of smaller hills. the ups/downs growing steadily to my overall set goal. I find that building a weekly list of my smaller hills I can easily progress through them. checking off what I did get done monday, then bumping down whatever I didn't to Tuesday.. ect.
